Randwick trainers John O’Shea and Tom Charlton will be out to secure a start in the Big Dance at Randwick in November when last start winner Jamberoo contests the Elders Emms Mooney *Big Dance Eligibility* Bathurst Cup (1800m) on Sunday.
Jamberoo went to the front on the Kensington track at Randwick at his latest start and fought on too well to beat another rival in this event, Belleistic Kids.
“He’s a handy horse with a good record,” O’Shea said of Jamberoo.
“He won a trial before we started him on the Kensington track and he won that race well.
"We’ve given him another trial since then and he ran second in that. He’s always shown talent in his career and it looks a nice race for him at Bathurst.”
Andrew Adkins takes the ride on Jamberoo in the Bathurst Cup, while Jean Van Overmeire will partner Belleistic Kids for Barbara Joseph and her training sons, Paul and Matt Jones.
Sara Ryan will saddle up the talented Money From The Sky, while Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have Too Much Caviar in the $50,000 event.
Belleistic Kids comes into the Bathurst Cup on the back of a last start win at Canberra, and that followed a midfield finish in the Goulburn Cup.
He finished second behind Jamberoo on the Kensington track before that.
Money From The Sky and Too Much Caviar will both line up in the Bathurst Cup coming off last start efforts at Rosehill when they clashed.
Too Much Caviar won that event, with Money From The Sky finishing fifth in the same event.
While the Bathurst Cup is the feature event on Sunday, the Panorama Motel The Panorama (1300m) is an important lead-up to The Kosciuszko with the Mack Griffith prepared Compelling Truth set to go around.
The Panorama is a $110,000 event, and apprentice Benjamin Osmond takes the ride on Compelling Truth, which will have its 63-kilogram impost offset by 1.5 kilograms.
Compelling Truth is already the winner of eight of his 16 starts, and has amassed more than $200,000 in prizemoney.
