It's one of most synonymous brands in provincial racing anywhere in the country - and it's gearing up for an audacious treble strike at today's feature Port Macquarie meeting.
A former Mayor of Port Stephens, Bruce Mackenzie's long-time "Oakfield" ownership and breeding operation has been a rusted-on part of NSW racing for as long as the formbook can remember.
Whether young or old, and in the stables of either Wyong-based pair Kristen Buchanan or Damian Lane, Mackenzie has clocked up more than 200 career wins, and his horses still continue to run into the major end of the prize money.
And three of his charges are ready to rumble on the NSW Mid North Coast on a track that is rated as a Soft 7.
In the opening race, progressive four-year-old mare Oakfield Redgum ($1.75 favourite on TAB) looks ultra hard to beat in the Stowe Australia Maiden Handicap over 1512m fourth-up in her first proper prep, and with blinkers on for the first time.
Having charged home late in her last two runs at Muswellbrook and Tamworth, Oakfield Redgum will relish the extra trip in a race that looks thinner in depth.
Then those renowned lime green colours will be on show in the Kosciuszko Tickets On Sale Maiden over the 1010m sprint distance with exciting four-year-old debutant Oakfield Triumph ($1.80 fav), a son of prolific Golden Slipper and Magic Millions winner Capitalist.
Fresh off two trials, the latest at Muswellbrook slipping through from behind the speed and careering away to win by nearly four lengths, Oakfield Triumph will be one of the more scrutinised gallopers anywhere on the card.
McKenzie then takes aim with tough five-year-old Oakfield Warpaint ($2.60 fav) who is well in the market fifth-up in the competitive John Oxley Motors Bm58 Handicap (1512m), although he has a task from barrier 10 against talented provincial mare Fairey Barracuda ($6.50), among others.
Leading country jockey Aaron Bullock rides all three of the "Oakfield" runners.
