Nestor Sums Up His Stable's Prospects At Warren (Tuesday)

By Tony Megahey

Amidst a spectacular fourth training season and with his stable quality close to resuming, Kody Nestor singles out his best punting push from eight lesser tiered acceptances throughout Tuesday’s capacity Warren TAB meeting.

The Dubbo-based former leading jockey with 41 winners this season is increasing his numbers rapidly and unprecedented acceptances and emergencies for Warren’s seven-race program is the result of booming prizemoney increases by Racing NSW.

Kody Nestor [pictured left] and Dubbo training neighbour Clint Lundholm, with 16 acceptances, have the numbers and form throughout the race card.

“We’ve got some well-bred progressive youngsters - Rubick Sun and Folseti will win races sooner than later, but fields this size you always need the luck,” offered Nestor, who has made an impact in Sydney with Golden Gorge and Jailbreak, soon to resume, and Sneak Preview - all set for the Newhaven Park Country Championships next autumn.

Rubick Sun, obviously a Rubick filly, has 56kg for Anthony Cavallo contesting the MCC Hydraulics 1200m Maiden.

“She worked and trialled nicely; ran up to it running second at Coonamble, she’s drawn terribly (19) but she’s come on - we’ve got an opinion of her.”

Forseti, a three-year-old Shooting to Win gelding, has 57.5kg for Aaron Sweeney in the Western Rivers Vet Group, Class I and Maiden, 1600m.

“Hard to beat and is in the right race - his recent runs have been solid, no luck from near last his previous start and out to 1600m will really suit him.

“He’s been getting back and closing late; he's looking for further and we’re drawn to race closer at the ‘mile’."

Lundholm was guarded on a tough day, but has an opinion of Sollozando, a two-year-old Star Witness protégé in the final event.

“She’s a filly with nice ability. Won her maiden really well, then she didn’t handle a heavy eight in a much harder race - she’s where we want her first-up. But fields this size always make it wide open.”
