Neil Evans's Tips For Sapphire Coast (Monday)

Track is a Soft 6 with the rail out 5m from 800m to the 350m into a cut-away. Weather is fine.

Race 1 (1:45pm) THE PEARL CHINESE RESTAURANT MAIDEN HANDICAP (1212m)

Former metropolitan mare 3. Benyatta ($1.80 favourite on TAB) resumes for a new and leading South Coast stable. Gear changes have been applied for the start of a second prep and she's shown enough on rain-affected going.

Dangers: Canberra mare 5. Easier ($4) can improve sharply in more suitable ground after failing to fire a shot resuming at home off a long break. Gap to the rest headed by 1. Brainzes ($4.60) and 8. Darn Shame ($17).

How to play it: Benyatta to win
Odds and Evens: Odds

Race 2 (2:20pm) WILD RYE'S BAKING CO & COFFEE ROASTING MAIDEN PLATE (1612m)

Keen on home track filly 14. Put To Shame ($3.50 fav) peaking fourth-up in her first prep. Worked home well in a deeper maiden at Wagga run in smart time and carries half kilo less for what is a very weak race.

Dangers: Underrated mare 10. Mini Maya ($7) is well served over this longer journey after doing her best work late in heavy ground fourth-up. Provincial four-year-old 5. Iverson ($34) can improve sharply second-up off a very long break after being outclassed in tougher provincial company, while 1. Arcadia Power ($14) has been horribly disappointing this prep but also improves getting to the mile for the first time.

How to play it: Put To Shame to win
Odds and Evens: Evens

Race 3 (2:55pm) FAY BOWKETT MEMORIAL RACE MAIDEN PLATE (1012m)

Back to the short course and like Canberra four-year-old 3. Grand Lusitano ($2 fav) second-up with key gear changes. Was flat when on speed resuming at home but much more effective in softer ground.

Dangers: Big market watch on ex-metro four-year-old 4. Impulsive Tycoon ($2.90) who resumes for a new stable with blinkers coming off while keeping safe Cable Bay (Ire) filly 12. Brave Maso ($19) who debuts behind a solid trial. Include 7. Faithless ($13), 8. Poetic Miss ($19) and debutante mare 10. Super Offa ($10) if you're playing the first fours.

How to play it: Grand Lusitano to win and box exacta 3,4,12
Odds and Evens: Split

Race 4 (3:35pm) GRAND MATRIARCH VODKA BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1012m)

Tough and competitive sprint with many resuming and a few wanting the lead. The blinkers come off progressive four-year-old 4. Dragons Breath ($5.50) who returns for his first run in four months. Has plenty of tactical speed and thrives in rain-affected going.

Dangers: Tough eight-year-old 1. Rafha's Choice ($5.50) has a race fitness edge deep into the prep. Chased home a smart sprinter last time and big weight off-set a little by a 2kg claim. Watch the betting on 5. Merc ($6) first-up. Won a deeper Federal on the synthetic through winter and looks well placed after the junior rider takes 3kg off. Another Canberra visitor resuming, 6. Nobody's Puppet ($10) also comes to handy early in the prep, while capable provincial mare 7. Pindarra's Dream ($5) resumes in a weaker grade for her first run in six months.

How to play it: Dragons Breath to win
Odds and Evens: Split

Race 5 (4:15pm) MERIMBULA AQUARIUM AND WHARF RESTAURANT CLASS 3 HCP (1612m)

Keen on provincial five-year-old 1. Shaka Rock ($3.10 fav) who drops in class and is bursting to win one this prep. Kept finding the line to be beaten narrowly by a promising one at Hawkesbury and advantaged on rain-affected ground.

Dangers: Honest 3. Subtly Spring ($6.50) will be hard to stop back in this class over a shorter journey after taking off way too soon in the Queanbeyan Cup and was easily swamped. Local five-year-old 2. Scarleo ($13) has disappointed all prep, but gets a string of gear changes including blinkers coming off. Include in exotics 4. More Shots ($12) dropping significantly in weight fourth-up and 6. In My Wallet ($4) who bolted in a Class 2 here two starts back before finishing hard only 10 days ago, but far from convinced the inside draw in these conditions does her any favours.

How to play it: Shaka Rock each-way
Odds and Evens: Split

Race 6 (4:50pm) WHEELER'S BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1412m)

South Coast mare 12. Shrug ($4.40) is the best weighted runner in the field and ready to strike deep into the prep. Charged late to just miss in a similar grade two starts ago before working home in a better race here. Given five weeks between runs, and boasts a superior soft track record.

Dangers: Canberra mare 2. Sly Song ($3.10 fav) is drawn off the track but has never raced better winning two of her last three. Dug in hard under a similar weight to reel them in on a bog track at Gundagai and she's right at home again in these conditions. Gap to the rest headed by 1. Fox Beat ($26) who resumes off a steady trial and improving mare 6. Denmiss ($4.80) who draws well, while 9. Scottish Soldier ($4.80) can run home late.

How to play it: Shrug to win and quinella 2 and 12
Odds and Evens: Evens

Race 7 (5:30pm) CORE ELECTRICAL & COMMUNICATIONS CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1212m)

This stacks up nicely for Canberra five-year-old 5. Sisseck ($6) fourth-up. Was well backed from a big price making up plenty of late ground in a much deeper race than this at home and looks well treated carrying only half kilo more.

Dangers: Tough five-year-old 2. Newtown Braveheart ($8) is hard fit and will relish getting back on softer ground, while watching the betting on 10. Farage ($11) who can peak third-up in suitable ground and last start maiden winner 11. Little Wand ($13).

How to play it: Sisseck to win
Odds and Evens: Split

BEST BETS
R2 - 14. PUT TO SHAME ($3.50)
R7 - 5. SISSECK ($6)

BEST VALUE
R6 - 12. SHRUG ($4.40)
