Neil Evans' Tips For Orange (Monday)

By Neil Evans

Track Good 4 and rail out 3.5m 500m to 300m into a cut/away rail:

Race 1 - 1:50PM RACING PHOTOGRAPHY.COM.AU MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

4. Bushwalker is trained on the track, bred to get further and peaks third-up. Hit the line hard 13 days back in a useful maiden at Dubbo, drawn to find a handy trail, and winkers go on in what is now a weakened race. 6. Penrose held her ground okay on debut, and can settle better here with the blinkers off. 8. Erion is another local who hit the line powerfully when resuming, and suited by the extra 100m.

Race 2 - 2:25PM WIN NETWORK CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

3. Prophet's Magic is well placed third-up from the inside draw. Rushed home to win his maiden first-up at Gundagai before again hitting the line hard in a race with more depth. Carries 1kg less in Class 1 company. 2. Gecko Coin is a lightly raced and honest six-year-old who found the line well when resuming in similar class. 4. Dark Vader must be respected, finding a thinner race fourth-up for a strong trainer/jockey combination. 5. Amantaka is over the odds third-up with a weight claim, and coming through a deeper Class 1 at Dubbo. 1. Takeover Artist resumes off two trials, and is drawn to get cover.

Race 3 - 3:00PM MCSIGNS ORANGE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (2100 METRES)

7. Shadow Shot is a still lightly raced five-year-old, and can make it two straight wins, stepping up significantly in distance third-up. Was dominant running home strong to beat a handy BM 58 field at Dubbo, and primed to run this out for a good country stable. 5. Avalicious has been up for a long time but continues to race well, only being run down narrowly at Dubbo 13 days ago. 6. Hot Gospel who hasn't finished further back than third in her last four, and 9. On The Decs who was only a bit over two lengths from the top selection; both go in trifecta and first fours.

Race 4 - 3:35PM COOPERS BREWERY BENCHMARK 74 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

5. Merchant Lady is a progressive and talented metro mare, well placed to claim a third win. Has hit the line nicely in two provincial runs this prep, winkers go on, and she looks fairly treated at the weights in BM 74 country grade. 3. Champions League is fit coming back from the deeper Queanbeyan Cup. 1. Sea Of Flames has gone back to the trials after an even effort in the Narromine Cup, but weighted to his best even after the claim. Gap to the rest.

Race 5 - 4:15PM ANGULLONG WINES MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)

4. Money Wheel resumes for a second prep off a lengthy break for the Bjorn Baker stable at Warwick Farm behind two quieter trials. Stablemate 7. Stallone also returns as a gelding off two progressive trials. 9. Floodgates looks capable of peaking fifth-up coming back from a deeper provincial super maiden. 14. Easy Girl gets blinkers ahead of her fourth start.

Race 6 - 4:55PM IDEAL CONDITIONS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

10. Super Sting is an honest five-year-old who gets a timely weight drop deep into the prep. Has tactical speed, placed in his last two, the latest only collared in the last few strides in weaker grade. Home tracker 12. Vaquero drops back a long way in grade third-up, and is drawn to get a soft run. 8. Field Agent is on a nine day back-up down in weight after breaking a long run of outs in weaker grade. 2. Starane hasn't done a lot in three runs back this prep, but draws economically over a suitably longer trip, and capable of reeling off a dominant closing 400m. 4. Order Of Merit peaks third-up over a furlong further.

Race 7 - 5:35PM DIGGERMATE ORANGE BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

8. Outback Angel is a genuine and lightly raced mare who rises in grade third-up off a six week break. Drawn to get cover just off speed, always races best when on the fresher side, and was scratched from Saturday's Albury meeting to be saved for this. 3. Brief Statement is trained on the track, and a must for exotic plays third-up. 12. Rubi Air is progressive, and was tough late winning a similar graded race third-up at Dubbo, and is over the odds.
