Track likely improving to Heavy 9 and rail out 2m from 1200m to 800m and 3m from 800m to 350m
Race 1 CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2200m): |

We start over the long journey on a heavy track. Metro five-year-old 3. Roshan can strike deep into this prep down a little in class. Boxed on well in a BM 58 last start, and jockey change is significant.
Dangers: Provincial six-year-old 1. Bulwark did his best work late over the mile here third-up, and extra trip is a natural bonus; while Canberra mare 5. Same Old Scene and 6. Sir Gunsen, stablemate to the top selection; are best of the rest in a race with little depth.
How to play it: Roshan to win. Odds and Evens: Odds
Race 2 MAIDEN PLATE (1400m): |
---|
Progressive two-year-old Capitalist colt 8. Feudalist seemingly has this at his mercy. Produced a big run from the back at only his outing after missing the start, and this looks an easier assignment.
Dangers: Doubt there are any, although provincial three-year-old 4. My Alma worked home nicely on debut in heavy ground at Wagga, and can run the quinella here over more ground.
How to play it: Feudalist to win and quinella 4 and 8. Odds and Evens: Evens
Race 3 COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN HCP (1200m): |
---|
Debutant Denman three-year-old 2. Man Of Mine won a recent heavy track trial here, and can start with a bang in a very small field.
Dangers: Another first starter, Extravagant two-year-old 7. King Of Spades has been steadily prepared with a string of progressive trials.
How to play it: Man Of Mine to win and quinella 2 and 7. Odds and Evens: Split
Race 4 CLASS 1 HCP (1400m): |
---|
Honest three-year-old 1. Legal Challenge goes up to 60kg but gets a nice drop in grade from a fair effort in a provincial BM 64. Handles rain-affected ground and one-time regular and leading country rider is back aboard.
Dangers: Improving three-year-old 4. Dom Tycoon has had four runs this prep, and should be right at his peak sliding a little further down in the weights. Keep safe provincial filly 9. Role Play who worked home okay resuming here, and likes it wet; while three-year-old 6. Cheap Charlie powered home to win his maiden on a heavy surface.
How to play it: Legal Challenge to win. Odds and Evens: Split
Race 5 FILLIES & MARES' MAIDEN HCP (1200m): |

Tricky race, but like two-year-old Press Statement filly 8. Notions returning off an eight week break in her first run for the Freedman stable. Was solid in the market finishing off okay on debut at the Sunshine Coast, and has been fitted with a quiet heavy track trial.
Dangers: Provincial filly 2. Pilipinas ran well above her market quote on debut here working home late, although has to slot in from a tricky barrier; while Sebring filly 5. Shewillbring second-up; and 3. Flying Grace can be included in exotics.
How to play it: Notions to win and box trifecta 2,3,5,8. Odds and Evens: Split
Race 6 BENCHMARK 58 HCP (1200m): |
---|
Hard to see progressive and lightly raced filly 6. Miss Baltimore not making it two straight at this track. Showed tactical speed to cruise home easily resuming on a similar surface, and bred to win much better races than this.
Dangers: Tough six-year-old 3. Stone Cold is hard fit, and charged home from the wide gate last start, although doubt the inside draw on a smaller track does him any favours. Watch the market on 1. Deepstar who can improve sharply with blinkers added; while 7. Wicked Wily third-up; and six-year-old mare 10. Foxie La Belle with blinkers applied; are both capable of figuring in these conditions.
How to play it: Miss Baltimore to win and first four 6/1,3,7,10/1,3,7,10/1,3,7,10. Odds and Evens: Split
Race 7 BENCHMARK 58 HCP (1600m): |

Like provincial three-year-old 8. Folk Hero who continues to improve after fourruns back, and relishes rain-affected going.
Dangers: Camelot five-year-old mare 6. Lady Kirkham can peak fifth-up from a good gate in ground she prefers.
How to play it: Folk Hero to win. Odds and Evens: Evens
