Narromine Winners - Tips For Sunday 25th August

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Sunday’s Narromine meeting. Selections based on a soft to heavy track.

Race 1 - 12:54PM NARROMINE SUPPORTING EQUIMILLION 2024 MAIDEN (1100 METRES)

7. Roses Imminente might hold the key to this very winnable race as she makes her debut on the back of one quiet trial at Scone. She worked to the line okay late there and draws okay. Any support would be significant.

Dangers: 6. Loch Anton Lady has had a few chances as a 24 start maiden but this is her first run for Garry Lunn. No public trials, though she does have a consistent enough record. From the inside gate will have every opportunity to fire. 8. She’s Just A Dream went for a break with a couple of solid placings to her name and has a trial under her belt. One of the chances. 2. Flight Or Fight gave a sight in front at big odds when runner-up over 1200m at Gilgandra. Placed in five of 10 so not without some claims.

How to play it: Roses Imminente WIN ($4.80 TAB Fixed Odds).

Roses Imminente runs fifth in a Scone trial on July 17

Race 2 - 1:34PM NARROMINE USMC MAIDEN HANDICAP (800 METRES)

3. Miss Adamas went back from a wide gate and didn’t get into the race at Gunnedah when favourite last time back in early May. Freshened up and previous couple of efforts were handy, gets blinkers and a claim and has her chance to break through.

Dangers: 7. Aspen Boulevard should give a good sight up on the speed as she’s done in her last couple. Was odds-on at Gilgandra a few weeks back and run down late. Must be respected. 1. Pattera sat handy and boxed on for third in the same race. Wide gate might not be such an issue over the short trip and is worth including in the chances. 9. Comobella is a huge watch on debut having not trialled since winning a trial at Orange in March. In good stable and any support will be a good pointer.

How to play it: Miss Adamas WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 3 - 2:14PM NARROMINE HARDWARE MAIDEN PLATE (1300 METRES)

12. Ocean Proud is an interesting runner having first start for Brett Cavaough since a beaten favourite at Toowoomba five weeks ago. Handy placing at Ipswich prior to that and with a sharp weight drop she’s a good chance to find her form.

Dangers: 1. It’s Showtime has found form with two heavy track placings at Scone and Tamworth in August. Sting out of the ground a plus for him and if he can hold that form he’s right in this. 6. Holy Mackerel ran her best race to date when narrowly beaten at Moree first-up after racing on the speed. Can only be fitter for it and stays under notice. 3. Press Yes has failed in a couple of heavy track runs this time in but could be a big improver on a better surface with a couple of gear changes and a soft draw.

How to play it: Ocean Proud WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 - 2:54PM NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

8. Royale Veloute has returned in excellent form with a Hawkesbury first-up win and a game second at Forbes with excuses. Likely needs a little luck early from the barrier but the trip is certainly no worries and she should go close.

Dangers: 7. Amantaka was an impressive maiden winner at Forbes before stepping up to run a solid third at Dubbo, both over the mile. Claim and nice draw are pluses and she’s a good chance. 6. World Reign went for a spell with a maiden win over this trip then not fancied in betting when resuming but stayed on well in the same race as Royale Veloute to run fourth. Fitter and shouldn’t be underestimated. 1. Air Combat was a nice winner on the heavy at Dubbo two runs back then beaten favourite when drawing wide at Moree and didn’t fire. Draws one this time and blinkers on so worth another chance.

How to play it: Royale Veloute WIN ($2.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 5 - 3:35PM MACQUARIE VALLEY FUELS BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (800 METRES)

7. Takanakuy might get the last shot at them first-up over the short course. Comes off a great preparation where she won three of five and placed in the other two. Has trialled well and should run a nice race.

Dangers: 5. Star Of Kings gave a big sight in front at 900m when resuming last time in then failed over the same course at Wellington and spelled. Speedy type who could take running down. 10. Too Darn Lovely failed in her first-up assignment at Newcastle when a slight drifter. Never in the hunt there really but previous form was good and this is easier so could be a big improver. 1. Sisters Pick has won five from 13 and resumes since being run down over 1200m at Dubbo in May. Claim a big plus and draws nicely so has to be considered.

How to play it: Takanakuy EACH-WAY ($7.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Takanakuy runs second in a Tamworth trial on July 31

Race 6 - 4:10PM DOUGLAS EGAN MEMORIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

10. Ishamashi won on debut then spelled and placed in all three starts this time around. Game effort at Forbes last time when beaten under a length and coming back slightly in trip looks a plus. Should be in the finish.

Dangers: 1. Paris Lad hasn’t done a lot wrong either and resumes having run second at Tamworth back in April in a Class 2. Fitter for two trials and while drawn out does roll forward. Keep safe. 2. Sanzeno was never in the hunt when a beaten favourite after going back from a wide draw. Inclined to forgive that. Drawn wide again here could be problematic but can forgive last time. 7. Hot Jive broke through two runs back at Grafton the backed it up with a handy third at Forbes up to a Class 2. Hard to leave out while in good form.

How to play it: Ishamashi EACH-WAY ($7.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Ishamashi runs third at Forbes on August 4

Race 7 - 4:45PM THREE RIVERS MACHINERY CASE IH NARROMINE CUP (1600 METRES)

1. Just A Brother was a bit unlucky not to win the Forbes Cup after conceding a huge start as he charged into second. Won the Parkes Cup over this trip in May and the claim brings him in nicely. Should be competitive here if he holds his form.

Dangers: 2. Aimpoint can be a little hit and miss but rebounded from a Canterbury failure to run a sound third at Coffs Harbour up to 2000m. Won at Dubbo three back over a mile and has the racing style to give himself every hope. 4. Fletchlo was a shade disappointing in the Forbes Cup finishing midfield after seemingly having his chance. Can forgive the one below par run on previous form. 6. Watch Me Rumble is mixing distances and is back to the mile after a close up fourth over 1280m at Gilgandra three weeks ago. Won only start here and has each-way claims.

How to play it: Just A Brother WIN ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Just A Brother runs second at Forbes on August 4

Race 8 - 5:20PM NARROMINE SHIRE COUNCIL BM58 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

4. Wolf Bay looks well placed second-up after a solid return at Dubbo two weeks ago. Suited by the extra trip here, draws the rails and can only be fitter. Won second-up last preparation and is entitled to go close.

Dangers: 1. Hit The Rim comes right back in class after tackling basically open company in his last couple and performing well. Been a while between wins but the 2kg off helps his cause and this is a good chance for him to feature. 8. My Mate Kate was outclassed when resuming at Wyong last week and could easily be a sharp improver into this. Wide gate gives her some work to do but with even luck expect her to run well. 5. Fantasy Crowned wasn’t disgraced at Dubbo last time out when well supported at odds. Has run some handy races and if he can run out the extra trip he’s an each-way chance.

How to play it: Wolf Bay WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds).
