Race 1 - 11:55AM NARROMINE REGION MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES) |

If 10. Krissy Krystyna can put herself into the race from the outset she is a big chance of cracking her maiden. Kept finding the line last start behind two handy gallopers at Forbes. Draws well so shouldn’t have any excuses.
Dangers: Wary of Rod Northam’s first starter 4. Omoplata . Like the way he recently trialled at Scone and there’s also been solid race form come out of that heat. 11. Merdeka is now with Connie Greig.
How to play it: Krissy Krystyna WIN ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS
Race 2 - 12:35PM DUBBO EQUINE HOSPITAL AND PET MEDICAL CENTRE MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES) |
---|
Everything went wrong on debut for 5. Little Red Power after jumping an even money favourite. He was slow out, got onto heels and had to fan widest. Over 800m, the winner was off and gone. Wanted to be with him wherever he ran second up and here he is.
Dangers: 3. Deep Rouge was sound on debut at Scone. Doesn’t have the convictions of many of his rivals. Big market watch on 2. The Black Flash having his first start for Clint Lundholm. Hasn’t had an official trial so late money will be the best guide.
How to play it: Little Red Power WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS
Race 3 - 1:15PM COL HODGES 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES) |
---|
Willing to gamble that 5. The Browser’s last start second to Ollivander at Dubbo last week was no fluke. Perhaps he’d just been looking for the mile as it was a sharp improvement on what he’d done previously. Expect similar positive tactics.
Dangers: 11. Super Chance is very well treated under the set weights conditions of the race. 8. Loose Buttons is trending towards another win having his third start for Will Freedman and getting out to the mile.
How to play it: The Browser EACH WAY ($11 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS
Race 4 - 1:55PM SOUL FOOD DESIGN DEPOT AND GALLERY MAIDEN PLATE (1300 METRES) |
---|
8. Gold Lunar hasn’t been a friendly horse to punters but he has bumped into some above average horses in his 12 starts. Like the way he hit the line behind Hurn Court at Scone first up. Maps to settle down midfield and get his chance out to 1300m.
Dangers: 6. Winter Moon has been chasing to the line this preparation like he wants this extra trip. Gets that third up and should be at his top now. 4. Money Not My God will knock off a maiden eventually but looks vulnerable as the early favourite.
How to play it: Gold Lunar WIN ($4 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS
Race 5 - 2:35PM NARROMINE SHIRE COUNCIL MAIDEN HANDICAP (800 METRES) |
---|
1. Mackinaw draws close enough in to find the front over the 800m scamper. He knocked up late at Scone last start to finish seventh but was still in front 100m from home. Hold your breath the last 50m but he’ll get his chance to scramble home.
Dangers: Half of the field is made up of first starters and thought the Alison Smith-trained 7. Brief Statement was the pick of them from the trials. The curiosity being that her hit out was back in mid February and she hasn’t been sighted since.
How to play it: Mackinaw WIN ($3.20 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS
Race 6 - 3:11PM DOUGLAS EGAN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (800 METRES) |
---|
2. Tango Stepz is a talented short-courser and she resumed at Tamworth with a strong win in a competitive BM74. Is being asked to lump 61kg but it’s only 800m and she maps to have the last say tucking in behind a fast speed up front.
Dangers: 6. Vital Verse is the runner here with the most scope he might not see which way they went over 800m first up over this trip. Blinkers off. Look for him late. 11. Niccolon draws to find the fence and give a sight.
How to play it: Tango Stepz WIN ($3.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS
Race 7 - 3:46PM LESLEY WALSH MEMORIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200 METRES) |
---|
5. Unrestricted’s form is patchy but his best gives this one heck of a shake. Won his maiden at the backend of last preparation but had always teased to be much better than that. Like the way he trialled at Scone recently.
Dangers: 4. Unification wasn’t showing much earlier in his preparation but with a solid fitness base and a change of tactics to put him on speed, he found winning form last start at Gilgandra. Can go on with it now.
How to play it: Unrestricted EACH WAY WIN ($5 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 8 - 4:21PM QUBE NARROMINE GOLD CUP (1600 METRES) |
---|
Wouldn’t think there’s much need to look outside of the obvious here in 5. From The Bush. The last start Forbes Cup winner relished getting out to the mile for the first time and is chasing three straight wins. Makes his own luck and handles all surfaces.
Dangers: The case for 2. Reward Seeker to turn the tables on From The Bush starts with the 3kg weight swing. Trainer Michael Mulholland is exceptional at targeting country cups. 3. Nomoathaj might be worth another chance.
How to play it: From The Bush WIN WIN ($2.70 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS
Race 9 - 5:00PM THANK YOU AND FAREWELL TODD SMITH BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1300 METRES) |
---|
7. Deshawn has been knocking around at this level for his last five runs, winning at Cowra two starts ago. Hasn’t run poorly in any of those outings and it looks to have all fallen into place for him again here from the good draw.
Dangers: 5. Blackadder also draws to get the right run and presents on the seven day back up having finished fourth at Dubbo last Sunday. This isn’t any harder and the slight drop in trip to 1300m looks in his favour.
How to play it: Deshawn WIN WIN ($3 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS
