Narrandera Winners - Tips For Sunday 14th July

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Sunday’s Narrandera meeting. Selections based on a heavy track.

Race 1 - 12:20PM LEETON TOYOTA BM66 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (2100 METRES)

3. Grenoble resumed with a nice effort to run third at Wyong over a mile a month ago and the step up in distance is right in his favour. Will need some early luck to offset the gate but back in class a bit he should be around the mark.

Dangers: 6. Dubai Showgirl showed vast improvement when out to this sort of distance holding second at Goulburn, albeit beaten six lengths. Only other try at the trip was a win so she clearly loves to stay. Can give a sight. 1. Fox Appeal has been racing well around the mile and if he can handle an extra 500m he will be competitive. Ran on well without threatening at Corowa last time. 2. Mischinka isn’t getting any younger but she’s racing well and stayed on from second in the same race. Gets a bit of weight relief here and can’t be left out of the chances.

How to play it: Grenoble EACH-WAY ($9.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Grenoble runs third at Wyong on June 13

Race 2 - 12:55PM WIN TV & WAGGA RACING SUPPORTERS CLUB MAIDEN (1400 METRES)

3. Special Prophet has to be forgiven for his first-up fourth at Gundagai after being forced to race wide throughout. Stuck on okay for fourth there and was solid betting. Different set up this time from the inside alley and should be hard to beat.

Dangers: 1. Riverbend Unicorn has found one better in two starts so far at Albury and perhaps getting up to this trip will be in his favour. Does have the wide gate to contend with but likely settles off the pace so sure to get his chance. 2. Dancer One was slowly out and had to do too much work at Wagga last time so no surprise he dropped out. Freshened up and form prior was honest so from the good gate he can bounce back. 6. Newyork Missile has run into some form of late with placings at his past two starts. Down in weight and drawn well so worth including.

How to play it: Special Prophet WIN ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 3 - 1:30PM CHARLES STURT HOTEL SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)

5. Brial Rose showed a good deal of promise in her first campaign with two placings at Wagga in the summer. Racxed handy in her trial before being eased down in the straight so the margin is misleading. Should be prominent.

Dangers: 2. Ditterich was a solid favourite when resuming at Albury and raced on speed before just going under late over 900m. Strips fitter for that and with some luck from the gate can be in the finish. 3. Read My Lips also has a tricky barrier to contend with but is racing well and would only need to hold her form to be a major player. 18. Turn To Glory found the 900m too short for him first-up but he made some late ground to finish midfield at Albury. Was right in the market there. Open to improvement.

How to play it: Brial Rose WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 - 2:05PM EURELLS & YAMAHA GOLF CARS NARRAUNGDERA YARRAMAN SPRINT BM74 (1000 METRES)

4. Hulm is hard to fault as he chases a hat-trick following easy wins at Seymour and Corowa. Showing a heap of promise and this looks no harder. Likely leader again and should take plenty of running down.

Dangers: 3. Kappy’s Angel can be a bit hit and miss and was a beaten favourite at Wagga last time out. Down a notch in grade into this and more than capable of bouncing back. 5. Mojo Music was a beaten favourite when third behind Kappy’s Angel at Wagga in May, since trialled nicely and has raced well here previously. Go well. 2. Gogol has some good wet track credentials and is 6kg better off at the weights for running fifth behind Hulm last time out. Has a job to turn the tables but can fare better.

How to play it: Hulm WIN ($1.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 5 - 2:40PM NARRANDERA BAKERY F&M BM58 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

2. Go Ellie Go backed up her upset win when resuming with an easy all the way victory at Corowa earlier this month. Has the speed to offset the wide gate getting up to the 1400m and if she does get charge she’ll be hard to run down.

Dangers: 4. So Greysful did a good job to run into third at Queanbeyan last time and the rise in trip looks in her favour. Go well. 1. Parabellum is ex-Ciaron Maher first-up for the new stable and has trialled since making the switch. This is easier than recent efforts and was a Hawkesbury winner three runs back at 2000m. Keep safe. 6. Madenyo hasn’t fired in two runs in Victoria and has moved into the Jospeph Jones yard from the Moody/Coleman stable. Form in previous prep was excellent so might be worth a look at the betting.

How to play it: Go Ellie Go WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 6 - 3:15PM ELDERS NARRANDERA & COLEAMBALLY CG&E BM58 (1400 METRES)

4. New Jersey is flying at present with three wins on end all at the 1400m. Held them off comfortably at Corowa last time and while he rises in weight he remains in the same grade. Should go forward again and give another good account.

Dangers: 3. Smart Poppy is unbeaten in two runs this preparation and was well supported in scoring at Gundagai coming from just off the speed. Must be respected. 6. Ashau Valley is an interesting runner resuming after quite a handy preparation over the summer. Did take a couple of runs to get going last time but may have come back better so keep in mind.

How to play it: New Jersey EACH-WAY ($5.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

New Jersey wins at Corowa on July 1

Race 7 - 3:55PM GLENN PRESTON REAL ESTATE C2 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

1. I’m A Steel is a big query first-up without a trial. Two wins from four starts and those defeats were in a Highway where she was luckless and a Group 2. Commands plenty of respect.

Dangers: 3. Super Sunny Seeya started favourite second-up at Albury when running on strongly into a close second. Draws the inside here and has every chance. 4. Aunty Ginny has won two from three and both came on heavy tracks. A month since her first-up win where she tired a bit late so will be fitter and while drawn wide is in the mix.

How to play it: I'm A Steel WIN ($2.70 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 8 - 4:35PM COMMUNITY BANK NARRANDERA SHOWCASE CUP (1600 METRES)

***BIG DANCE ELIGIBILITY***

5. Riverplate looked excellent winning first-up at Murray Bridge where he sat wide without cover but powered away late. Will need a good ride from the tricky gate but if he’s come on from that win he’ll be right in the thick of this.

Dangers: 1. Ascension hasn’t won for a year but if he repeats his Swan Hill Cup second he’ll take some running down. Aided by the claim, drawn to lead and is a definite chance. 4. Prince Of Helena won this race last year and has been around the mark of late with a fourth in the Swan Hill Cup and the same placing at Flemington last time. Must be considered. 2. Magnaspin won The Coast at Newcastle on a heavy track before an even effort at Eagle Farm up to 1800m. Hard to leave out with favourable conditions.

How to play it: Riverplate WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds).
