Narrandera, one of the gateways to the Riverina, will present its biggest ever raceday on Sunday.
For the first time Narrandera Race Club’s Cup is a qualifying race for the $3 million Big Dance in November.
“We are excited and proud to stage the Showcase Big Dance qualifier with our Narrandera Cup (1600m),” said NRC’s Michael Bailey.
“The 144th year of the Club sees our Cup carrying record prizemoney of $50,000 and the Country Showcase meeting boasting $270,000 in total.
“The eight-race program will be chock full of good horses and we’re certain great racing be the result.
“A highlight will be the McGrath Real Estate Fashions on the Field with entertainment by Lauren Wilesmith.
“We will also have a bar operating with a canteen, dining facilities, a TAB, bookmakers and a big screen.
“Our Club will also unveil its two off-season developments with the new tower for the judge, stewards, the racecaller and the Sky cameraman.
“The development will make a huge difference for officials and provide a safe and dry area to work.
“Cup day will be full of fashion and excitement, and we look forward to the support of the industry and racegoers looking for a great day’s entertainment.
“We cannot wait – the track is in excellent order and all our new facilities will be finished and in pristine condition.”
Cup time kicks off on Saturday night with a Calcutta at Narrandera Ex-Servicemen’s Club starting at 7:30pm.
Looking towards the spring and tickets have gone on sale to share in $2m prizemoney for The Kosciuszko Sweepstakes, part of the world’s richest race for country-trained gallopers.
NSW residents can purchase $5 sweepstakes tickets via the TAB App, local pubs, clubs, TAB agencies and at NSW race meetings.

Meanwhile, the Grafton Carnival reaches fever pitch this week with Grafton District Services Club Ramornie Handicap Day on Wednesday featuring by the $200,000 Ramornie Handicap (1200m).
And the big one is on Thursday, Grafton’s main social event of the year, with Cup Day featuring the $200,000 Westlawn Finance Grafton Cup (2350m).
Plenty of entertainment has been organised including the Purple Pearls Fashions on the Field.
Both Ramornie Day and Grafton Cup Day provide a total of more than $1m in prizemoney.
The Carnival wraps up next Sunday with Maclean Bowling Club Maclean Cup Day with live music on the Westlawn provided by Tangle, kids fashions and free kids’ activities.
There’s even a Maclean ferry making the trip up and back along the Clarence River.
