Muswellbrook Winners - Tips For Sunday 4th June

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Sunday’s Muswellbrook meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 12:40PM GREG CRIBB MEMORIAL RED CROWN 2YO HANDICAP (900 METRES)

1. Getty resumes as a gelding on the back of a couple of solid enough city trials. Has started favourite in good quality fields at both starts and was game on debut when runner-up at the Gold Coast. Stable likes to win this race and he’s a decent chance.

Dangers: Stablemate 7. Satin And Silk has also trialled twice and was a couple of lengths behind Getty in the latest of them. She wasn’t disgraced in the Gimcrack on debut and with gate one she’s a logical danger. 6. Perennial is on debut for Paul Messara and there was a bit to like about his Gosford trial win late last month. Little more depth than your average 2yo maiden here but he is worth keeping safe. 2. Fameux is out of former top mare Daysee Doom and while she has been a shade disappointing so far her latest trial wasn’t a bad one and she could show up.

How to play it: Getty WIN ($2.60 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Race 2 - 1:15PM SNOWDEN RACING BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

4. Secret Revolution is well placed here, broke through for a maiden win at Hawkesbury despite a betting drift then hit the lead but couldn’t hold off a Godolphin pair in a Class 1 at the Scone carnival. Honest and would be a surprise if he’s not in the finish.

Dangers: 1. Euphrates Dream went down fighting first-up at Kembla Grange which isn’t a bad credential for this race. Likely rolls forward form the outside and can be hard to get past. 3. Our Calantha is a big query first-up without a trial since March. Lightly raced and won two from three in Queensland. Follow any market pushes. 6. Outreach To Henry appreciated a drop out of Highway grade when scoring under 61kg at Port Macquarie. Not out of it.

How to play it: Secret Revolution WIN ($2.10 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Secret Revolution runs third at Scone on May 12

Race 3 - 1:50PM TAB COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN HANDICAP (1280 METRES)

1. Martedi had every chance when placed on debut here a couple of weeks ago but has landed in a very winnable maiden. Sure to be better for the run and while drawn out perhaps he can be a bit more conservative early. Either way a good chance.

Dangers: 3. Time For Truce went around in a solid maiden at Scone last month and didn’t fire but was narrowly beaten over this course first-up. On that he’s in the mix and has each-way claims. 6. Himorher was beaten as a $1.55 chance fresh at Gunnedah and wasn’t in the hunt at all at Scone. Placed here on debut and perhaps entitled to one more chance. 8. Meet In Brazil has put two placings together at Gunnedah and Moree and has a soft draw so gets the chance to be somewhere in the finish.

How to play it: Martedi WIN ($1.70 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Martedi runs third at Muswellbrook on May 21

Race 4 - 2:25PM PIRTEK 3YO & UP MAIDEN PLATE (900 METRES)

6. World Alliance is on debut here and based on his trials he should take some beating. Won at Warwick Farm in good style then held together and closed late at Hawkesbury. From the inside should be prominent and is clearly on top.

Dangers: 9. Hot Sundae was in the market when resuming at Newcastle and just battled when presented for her run. Probably a notch down in depth here and could be an improver. 2. Hudson’s Lenny was safely held by the winner here last time but not far off the placegetters. Wouldn’t shock if he filled a placing.

How to play it: World Alliance WIN ($1.45 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

World Alliance runs third in a Hawkesbury trial on May 22

Race 5 - 3:05PM GODOLPHIN COUNTRY BOOSTED CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1450 METRES)

1. Titration has been threatening to win a race and gets another chance here. Placed in a Highway at Hawkesbury then favourite and perhaps a shade disappointing here two weeks ago. Ready for this trip again and should run well.

Dangers: 3. Sammiballerina won a Class 1 here three starts ago as a short priced favourite. Forgive last couple in Highway grade and she drew wide in the latest at Scone. Inside gate again here and entitled to another chance. 5. Charlotting hasn’t done a lot wrong and tried hard when runner-up at Bathurst last week. Both wins are at a mile and she’s in the mix. 2. Daksha had support at Tamworth last time and didn’t put himself in the finish. Doesn’t win out of turn but rarely too far away. Placed at Newcastle two runs back in a BM64 so worth including.

How to play it: Titration WIN ($3.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Titration runs third at Muswellbrook on May 21

Race 6 - 3:45PM PURSEHOUSE RURAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

4. Extra Smart was no match for a handy one first-up since December but kept trying when third. Trialled too well leading into that race to be harsh on that run and with added fitness and an inside alley she can be hard to beat.

Dangers: 3. Off Da Hizzle hasn’t raced since starting an $8 chance in a Class 1 at Newcastle won by Major Beel (ATC Derby winner) over Awesome John (WA Derby winner). Latest trial was a handy one and she bears close watching. 1. Mon Pierre was on speed all the way and romped away with a maiden here two weeks ago over this course as a $1.50 favourite. Fewer favours this time but was impressive and could repeat. 7. Chiky Chiky Mama has only won once in 12 starts but she’s been placed another 10 times so is always around the mark. Found one better when narrowly beaten at Quirindi a month ago and has to be included in the chances.

How to play it: Extra Smart WIN ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Extra Smart runs third at Muswellbrook on May 21

Race 7 - 4:25PM SHORTY CRIBB ABERDEEN CUP (1280 METRES)

3. Ceasefire was narrowly beaten over this course three runs back and hasn’t been disgraced in two runs at midweek city level since. Should get the favours from a handy draw this time and down in weight on his last couple. Good chance to break through this prep.

Dangers: 5. Rising is also right back in class having taken on a BM78 at Randwick last weekend. Last win was at Scone in March when resuming, blinkers off and he’s capable of bouncing back. 7. Smoke Bomb has his first start for Sue Grills and has trialled twice. Latest hitout a handy one behind Hit The Target who won narrowly. Any support would be significant as he gets in with 53.5kg. 4. Cecilia was never in the hunt when resuming at Scone in a BM78. Won four from five second-up and has a handy record at this track. She’s a likely improver and could surprise.

How to play it: Ceasefire WIN ($2.15 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.
