Murwillumbah Winners - Tips For Sunday 27th December

By Brad Gray

Tips and race by race preview by Brad Gray for Murwillumbah on Sunday.

Race 1 - 1:30PM SWIMART TWEED - IMPERIAL HOTEL CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Matthew Dunn has a very strong hand here and what 6. Courageous has on his side is the ability to put himself on speed. The four-year-old has had three runs for Dunn now and looks suited out in trip, finding a race he should get control of.

Dangers: Stablemate 2. Emma’s Jet will be hitting the line hard. She raced in restricted room first up. 3. Horowitz wasn’t far away from Emma’s Jet at the Gold Coast two starts back while last start he raced like he wants this trip.

How to play it: Courageous WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 2 - 2:05PM WRIGHT MACHINERY - LOTZA SIGNS CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2000 METRES)

6. Repetiteur was taken straight to the front at Toowoomba last start and she made a mess of his maiden rivals. Given how well those tactics worked, with Nozi Tomizawa in the saddle, who rides again here, expect her to be hard to catch going into a Class 1.

Dangers: Keen to see what 4. Mbappe can do out to the staying trip. Did his best work late over the mile last start. 1. Arlington Valley will run another honest race but isn’t particularly well weighted off ratings.

How to play it: Repetiteur WIN ($4 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 3 - 2:40PM O'BRIEN PLUMBING TWEED - SOKO CONSTRUCTIONS MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

8. Spiritual Boom won’t find an easier race that this to break his maiden. Gets in with 54kg after the claim of Emily Atkinson and will make his own luck. The three-year-old filly held her own second up a fortnight ago and doesn’t have to improve much off that to win this.

Dangers: 6. Define Love’s ninth on debut was perhaps a touch better than it reads on paper. Had trialled well prior. Worth another chance. 7. To Dem With Love has had plenty of chances but this is suitable.

How to play it: Spiritual Boom WIN ($3.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 4 - 3:15PM JOE BOOTH TRANSPORT - RIVERVIEW HOTEL BALLINA CUP PRELUDE (1550 METRES)

Class should get 1. Nothingforthepress home in this. He looks too good. The seven-year-old deserves every kilo of his 61kg impost. Found the line great in a harder race than this at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago. Handles all surfaces and the mile suits.

Dangers: 5. Class Of Royalty was bogged down in the very heavy conditions at the Gold Coast last start as a firm favourite on the back of a big win prior. Handles soft conditions, just not heavy.

How to play it: Nothingforthepress WIN ($5 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS

Race 5 - 3:55PM CMT EQUIPMENT - BRT BLOODSTOCK MAIDEN HANDICAP (1550 METRES)

1. Hogan’s Dare picks himself here. It’s his race to lose. He was luckless at the backend of his first preparation before resuming with an eye-catching second a fortnight ago. Will give away a start from the wide draw but all being equal, he looks the winner.

Dangers: 5. Al Eff Four has had plenty of chances but outside of Hogan’s Dare, there isn’t much depth to this. 2. Beauty Canto is the most lightly-raced horse in the field and gets the blinkers on.

How to play it: Hogan’s Dare WIN ($3.40 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS

Race 6 - 4:36PM TWEED AWARDS & EMBROIDERY - COOLABAH COOLING BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1550 METRES)

4. Fallow bolted in over this track and trip last start, with very aggressive tactics opted from the outset. He pinched a break turning for home and won going away on the line. That was back in distance so he’s rock hard fit. Hard to beat if they ride him the same way.

Dangers: 2. Autumn Splendour is well treated with 60kg given her rating, and in a race with a 55kg minimum. Wasn’t far away at Ipswich last start and the four-year-old is racing like she wants this extra trip.

How to play it: Fallow WIN ($3.60 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 7 - 5:16PM CUNNINGHAM VALUERS & PROPERTY ADVISERS TWEED COAST CLASSIC FINAL- BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Like the way 14. Le Figaro closed off last start over this track and trip. Just hoping that Luke Dittman can have her a pair or two closer in the run. The four-year-old mare is holding her form well at the moment and another win is immanent.

Dangers: 1. Ready To Party is the class runner in the field and did her best work late first up. The market suggested she needed the run too. With natural second up improvement, she looks a logical threat to the stablemate.

How to play it: Le Figaro WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
