Murwillumbah Winners - Tips For Sunday 25th June

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Sunday’s Murwillumbah meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 12:16PM SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL BM58 HANDICAP (1010 METRES)

1. Fortyfive Parklane is well placed in this class first-up even allowing for the big weight. Class 4 winner two starts back and close up in open company before a break. Nice recent trial and he’s entitled to take plenty of stopping.

Dangers: 6. Wedding Tent is building a handy record and chased hard when runner-up at Ballina first-up in this grade. Fitter and was a drifter in betting there so likely open to improvement. 2. Where’s The Fire started favourite here a few weeks ago and was never in the race beating just a couple to the line. Clearly better than that and from a better gate can bounce back to form. 4. Hot And Strong led all the way for a comfortable win at Ballina over a similar trip two weeks ago. Expect will look to lead again and try to pinch it. Has a show.

How to play it: Fortyfive Parklane WIN ($5.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Race 2 - 12:56PM CHG INTEGRATED WEALTH MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

2. Tectonic Plate made a highly promising debut at Ballina, hitting the line nicely late into second over the 1000m. Shapes as though the extra trip will be ideal and if there’s any natural improvement she’s a good chance to go one better.

Dangers: 1. Al Ash Lad started $1.40 in the same race and had every possible chance in running third. Was first-up so can have some upside but he’s been beaten favourite a few times so is getting costly. Still, six placings from 10 starts so has to be respected. 5. Golden Shao also comes through the Ballina race where she ran an even fourth after settling last. Both starts in NSW have had merit and she’s one of the chances. 6. Icon Of Style backs up after a fair effort when favourite at Port Macquarie last week. Perhaps the kinder draw will help her out here. Worth another chance.

How to play it: Tectonic Plate WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Tectonic Plate runs second at Ballina on June 12

Race 3 - 1:36PM PIPER-HEIDSIECK BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1550 METRES)

6. Daedalus doesn’t win out of turn but he’s always around the mark and has had to chase Kermantic home at his last two starts including one over this course. That horse isn’t here this time and from the handy draw should run well again.

Dangers: 5. Shotgun Bobby won well on a heavy track three runs back and placed his last two around the mile. Up 3kg for a drop in class and only has to hold form to be in the finish again. 7. Tee Amici had support when a cheeky second two runs back at Sunshine Coast but didn’t fire there two weeks ago. Each-way chance if she finds the lead. 3. Scenic Rim did quite a good job to win first-up at Toowoomba off the outside gate, leading all the way. Could measure up here.

How to play it: Daedalus WIN ($3.80 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Race 4 - 2:16PM MURWILLUMBAH CUP TICKETS ON SALE NOW BM58 (1200 METRES)

6. Burdekin hasn’t raced since February when placed at Quirindi and hasn’t trialled publicly. Consistent type who has drawn well and any support for him would be significant.

Dangers: 2. Hasten Delight won on debut at Goulburn before a placing at Wyong in February. Since relocated to the Gold Coast and trialled a couple of times. Another market watch. 4. Hey Little Sister recorded placings at Grafton and here before a fair run three weeks ago when well supported. Blinkers go on and while drawn out shouldn’t be underestimated. 10. Prince Arli did enough first-up at Grafton under a big weight and will be fitter. Each-way claims.

How to play it: Burdekin E/W ($7.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Race 5 - 2:56PM TAB IT'S TREBLE TIME MAIDEN PLATE (1010 METRES)

1. Enterprise Legend produced his best run for the prep when leading and trying his best to hold off Take The Kitty here at 1100m. Decent gap to third. Back slightly in trip and drawn to lead again. Can be harder to run down.

Dangers: 14. Burnt Butter resumes without a public trial and has been in the market in two starts at Muswellbrook and Tamworth. Went too hard in front before a spell and weakened so forgive that. Keep an eye on betting. 8. Chilling Me Softly gave a good sight at Port Macquarie two runs back then led them up and just battled late here on June 4. Drawn out this time but sure to be competitive. 10. Marleedoone has a consistent record without winning, placing in nine of 13 starts, and is fitter for a recent trial win. Keep in mind.

How to play it: Enterprise Legend WIN ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Enterprise Legend runs second at Murwillumbah on June 4

Race 6 - 3:36PM RIVERVIEW HOTEL MAIDEN HANDICAP (1550 METRES)

7. Shesabomb showed sharp improvement second-up at Newcastle when, despite being unwanted in betting, she looked a shade unlucky not to win. Wound up third and kept coming to the line. Draws nicely to trail and if she runs up to last time she goes close.

Dangers: 8. More Elements didn’t do a whole lot in his first two starts but also lifted sharply when runner-up at big odds over this course three weeks back. If he runs up to that performance he can be around the mark again. 9. Written Fame was fair on debut then better effort after leading off a wide gate at Ballina holding on for fourth. Wouldn’t surprise if he improves further. 15. Mind My Mimosa ran a much improved race last time out at Ballina and could be an improver here.

How to play it: Shesabomb WIN ($2.80 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Shesabomb runs third at Newcastle on June 10

Race 7 - 4:16PM WHITE CLAW LADIES DAY DASH CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

16. Take The Kitty was dominant winning a maiden first-up at this track and is very well placed if she gains a start in this Class 1 from a handy draw. Similar weight and can only be fitter. On the up and take beating.

Dangers: 13. Bring Me To Life is also a last start maiden winner and he scored on a heavy track at Grafton by an increasing margin. Firmer ground this time but has more upside than most and has to be respected. 2. Dubai Nights was a beaten favourite here first-up last prep when placed before a couple of poor efforts in Queensland. No public trial but draws one and if he attracts support it’d be worth noting. 1. Shaquila boxed on for a placing at Gold Coast first-up then solid in the market but no match for stablemate Goomeri here last time. Needs some luck from the gate but capable of better.

How to play it: Take The Kitty WIN ($3.10 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.
