Locals Keen To Swap Chills For Home Track Thrills (Goulburn)

Despite the recent winter chills across the tablelands, local trainers will be chasing home track thrills on Friday with an impressive 15 acceptors across the eight-race program.

Over a third of the local runners have gone up single figures in early TAB fixed odds markets suggesting they could easily warm the pockets of punters who follow the usually strong Goulburn form.

Scotty Collings, fresh off a city placing on Wednesday with Extravagent Lad, continues his reassured stable build presenting three genuine chances.

Garratt Road $14 (Jeff Penza-Race 1), Newton Braveheart $9.50 (Nick Heywood-Race 3) and Master Joe $18 (Nick Heywood-Race 6).

With senior riders engaged on all three competitive showings wouldn't surprise.

The Emma & Lucy Longmire combination present three of their 16-strong string led by Cash is Queen $5.50 (Amy McLucas-Race 6), Great Week $51 (Amy McLucas-Race 4) and Leabeater $31 (Koby Jennings-Race 6).

Look for good interest around Cash Is Queen with the early market eyes wide open on the filly's recent trial win at home.

Kurt Goldman bobs up with two runners and will be looking to continue the win and grin association between Mitchell Bell and Lawyer's Delight ($5.50) in Race 5.

The in-form son of Dundeel takes aim at a hat-trick of wins with Bell gifted an all options draw in an open Kilpatrick Metal Recyclers Class 2 Handicap over 1500m. Pyrat ($26) is also listed to debut for Goldman in Race 6.

Pat Murphy has accepted with three charges and early markets suggest Bet Red ($6.50) can add to an already strong second-up record in Race 8, the Divalls Earthmoving B66 Hcp over 1300m.

The six-year-old resumed with a solid effort over too short a trip behind the in-form I Call Junee Home at the most recent Goulburn meeting and has a productive record on his home track.

Danielle Seib tweaks the tyres on Charlemagne ($6) in Race 3, the Brisbane Meadows CG&E B58 Handicap over 1000m. The stable has produced three winners from its past seven runners and will be looking for more loot as it drops Charlemagne back in trip third-up.

Apprentice Hannah Williams takes the sit as one of two rides on the day with Williams also using her claim to good effect on topweight The Maxinator ($5.50) for Gary Portelli in Race 5.

Goulburn Race Club CEO, Robyn Fife says despite the recent winter blast its full steam ahead at this time of year: "With two scheduled meetings in June, another two dates in July (18th and 29th) and another on the 8th August it's all systems go at Goulburn," Ms Fife offered.

"It's good to see our track back in the Soft 6 range for Friday with Goulburn trainers again offering competitive chances against genuine opposition."

Goulburn's eight-race card kicks off at 11.55am on Friday.
