Licensed jockey Rory Hutchings has been suspended for one month by Racing NSW Stewards for his riding of the second placegetter FLYING DESTINY in Race 2 at the Goulburn race meeting today.
Jockey Hutchings pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(b) for having failed to ride FLYING DESTINY out for several strides approaching the end of the race.
He was suspended for a period of one calendar month to commence on 22 March 2023 and to expire on 22 April 2023, on which day he may ride.
In assessing penalty, Stewards accepted that he had genuinely mistaken the semaphore board just prior to the finishing line as the winning post, as well as his contrition and guilty plea.
Stewards also had regard to the narrow margin involved and that his riding had severely prejudiced his mount’s chances of winning.
