John Schell's Tips For Warren (Sunday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a soft track

Race 1 - 1:30PM HUTCHEON AND PEARCE SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)

6. Truth I Fear raced on the speed at Coonabarabran when last produced and held on well enough to finish second. That followed a solid second at Coonamble and he has been in the placings in almost half of his race starts. This looks a perfect race for him to break through with a win in.

Dangers: 11. Trust A Kitty has been placed in five of her 12 starts including three recent placings at Dubbo and Bathurst. She’s drawn well and the apprentice claim should help. 2. Kuroshinzo resumed with a solid second at Bathurst before a last start seventh at Quirindi after leading. He has the talent to give this a shake. 7. Brandywine has been placed at Narromine and Mudgee at her past two starts and while she struggles to win she could be placed again.

How to play it: Truth I Fear WIN.

Race 2 - 2:05PM NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

1. Pressnell had looked good winning two trials before debuting as favourite at Scone and racing well a little over two weeks ago when finishing second. He’s drawn wide here but has Nick Heywood to ride and he can atone for that defeat.

Dangers: 8. Specula has been racing well with second placings in each of her latest two starts at Narromine and Mudgee. She can figure again in this if she can repeat those efforts. 6. Daffers is on debut and has had a number of trials over an extended period, winning the latest of them at Scone. She looks set to run well here. 4. Fast’N’Ezy led at Coonabarabran when finishing seventh before a break and has place claims fresh in this.

How to play it: Pressnell WIN.

Race 3 - 2:40PM WESTERN FARM MACHINERY WJC SPRINT BM82 (1200 METRES)

1. Driving Force resumed from a spell with a strong finishing victory at Tamworth. He backed that up with a fourth behind Gallant Star at Dubbo with that winner going on to bigger and better things. Driving Force was since beaten less than two lengths at Coonamble when last produced and he only needs to have maintained that form.

Dangers: 2. Castlebar Road led and won well at Coonamble two starts ago before a fifth at Coonabarabran last time out. He’s drawn well here and can give cheek. 5. Life’s A Party ran third behind Castlebar Road at Coonamble and then ran second in the same race he contested at Coonabarabran. 3. Smart And Dapper raced on the speed and ran well when third at Scone last time out and should take plenty of beating again in this.

How to play it: Driving Force WIN.

Race 4 - 3:15PM WARREN JOCKEY CLUB COTTON CUP (1600 METRES)

6. Ekeler is a well-bred gelding that only has a win and two placings from 13 starts but he has been racing well of late when not beaten far in each of his latest four starts. He’s drawn well here and should get a good run in transit. This looks a good race for him.

Dangers: 4. Zounile was a Dubbo winner five starts ago and was then placed in three straight runs before a last start fourth in the Coonabarabran Cup. She has the ability to be a factor in here. 1. Sea Of Flames wasn’t beaten far in a good grade race at Wagga last time out and should show up here with a repeat of that. 3. Possibly So showed improvement when a last start third at Orange.

How to play it: Ekeler EACH WAY.

Race 5 - 3:50PM QUEENSLAND COTTON CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

6. Mrs Bull had been racing in consistent form with a number of placings before finishing seventh as favourite at Coonabarabran. She since broke through with a second career win at Dubbo last week and now that she’s won again there’s no reason she can’t go on with the job.

Dangers: 4. Stratified led throughout to score as favourite at Narromine three starts ago and then hasn’t been beaten far in two runs at Coonamble and Quirindi. He has the ability to give this a shake. 5. Ms Reeves was placed behind Mrs Bull at Dubbo last time out and she has a solid enough record that gives her a chance to make an impact in this. 3. Smart Roostar has finished midfield in two runs back from a spell and only needs to run up to those efforts in order to be a chance of figuring here.

How to play it: Mrs Bull WIN.

Race 6 - 4:30PM HALCROFT AND BENNETT BM58 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

1. Obsessive Nature has a good record with six wins from 33 starts. He has won his latest two starts including the latest success at Orange. He has a big weight to contend with, but the apprentice claim should help.

Dangers: 8. Kora Magic has a poor winning record with just the two wins to her name from 28 starts but she has had a further 20 minor placings. She’s been placed at Orange and Scone at her latest two starts and should figure prominently if she can run up to those efforts. 4. Violet And Blue has won two of her latest three starts with victories at Wellington and Queanbeyan. She looks to have her share of ability and should run well again. 3. Press Forward was placed at Dubbo three starts ago and hasn’t been too far away in each of his two starts since then behind Plenitude on each occasion.

How to play it: Obsessive Nature WIN.

Race 7 - 5:10PM INLAND PETROLEUM COUNTRY BOOSTED BM58 (1400 METRES)

2. Hit The Rim doesn’t win too often but his form has been solid of late leading into this event. He ran third at Dubbo five starts ago and has been just behind the placings in each of his four runs since then. Kody Nestor takes the ride here and he looks set to give a good sight.

Dangers: 1. East Harlem contested a Highway at Randwick three starts ago and wasn’t beaten far when finishing sixth. He comes into this on the back of a last start third at the Young picnics behind I’m Scarlett. 8. I’m Scarlett has won three on end and scored at Quirindi after the Young victory. She’s on the up and has claims here. 4. Tallawah battled on well when third at Coonabarabran last time out and can show up here with a repeat of that.

How to play it: Hit The Rim WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 3 (1) Driving Force.
Race 7 (2) Hit The Rim.

Best Value:
Race 4 (6) Ekeler.
