John Schell's Tips For Warren (Sunday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a good track

Race 1 - 1:20PM DWYERS TRANSPORT & NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS MAIDEN (1000 METRES)

4. I’m Independent debuted with a fourth behind Deion at Coonabarabran then backed that up with a close-up second behind Rockin’ Edition at Dubbo last week. That form looks pretty solid for a race like this and she gets her chance to score.

Dangers: 7. Flying Molly has had three starts and her latest effort was the best yet when finishing a close-up fourth at Wellington. She’s draw to get the run of the race here. 13. Meet In Brazil has been midfield in her recent runs and could sneak into the placings.

How to play it: I’m Independent WIN.

Race 2 - 1:55PM B & D BROUFF EXCAVATION BM58 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

8. Sons Of Bourke hit the line well to score at Forbes two starts back then finished second as favourite at Dubbo on Tuesday. He’s on the quick back-up here but gets in with an apprentice allowance which will help.

Dangers: 2. Hemsted has been placed in each of his latest two starts and he has the talent on his day to be winning this. He should get a good run from an ideal gate and give plenty of cheek. 4. Majestic Wings justified favouritism to win at Mudgee at her latest start and while this is tougher, she is not out of it. 7. Turnaway strips fitter for his resuming effort and has the advantage of barrier one.

How to play it: Sons Of Bourke EACH WAY.

Race 3 - 2:30PM HUTCHEON & PEARCE SHOWCASE SUPER MAIDEN (1400 METRES)

12. Bliss was resuming from a spell at Coonamble last time out and finished a solid fourth when not beaten far after racing on the speed. She had looked good in a Dubbo trial before that and she’s drawn well enough here to be prominent throughout again.

Dangers: 4. Parisian Rockstar is resuming from a spell here for a new stable having previously raced in Victoria. He looks suited here from the inside gate and is deserving of thought. 3. Mike has had two runs since returning from a break and was a solid second at Bathurst last time out. 2. Infinite Prince is struggling to break through with a maiden win, but he has finished second in five of his six starts this campaign, the latest at Coonamble last month.

How to play it: Bliss WIN.

Race 4 - 3:05PM MACQUARIE TOYOTA CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

1. Mr Invincible is a former Victorian which has been racing in good heart since joining the new stable. He scored at Narromine two starts back then ran third at Wellington last time out. The step up to the mile shouldn’t pose any problems from the good barrier.

Dangers: 3. Foxy Baroness was a fast-finishing winner at Coonabarabran before running second at Moree last time out. She should be thereabouts again. 6. All I Have has been racing well with two wins from his last three starts and he is one of the leading contenders, while 5. Barry The Poet comes into this on the back of a Dubbo maiden win and he could go on with the job.

How to play it: Mr Invincible WIN.

Race 5 - 3:40PM MATT'S MATES WARREN JOCKEY CLUB SPRINT (1200 METRES)

1. Moetta was resuming from a spell in a handy field of sprinters on Coonabarabran Cup Day and finished a close-up second behind Scarzel. She’s drawn the inside gate in this and should be in the thick of things throughout.

Dangers: 5. Lipstick Lil was only narrowly beaten when second at Gosford behind Miss Faberge when hitting the line well. Expect her to be hitting the line well here. 6. Praline impressed with a last start Dubbo win and warrants respect again, while 3. Cheptegei is resuming from a spell and is capable of sprinting well fresh.

How to play it: Moetta WIN.

Race 6 - 4:20PM QUBE LOGISTICS COTTON CUP (1600 METRES)

3. Simply Xtravagant has been going from strength to strength this preparation and comes into this on the back of four wins in succession. She is up to the mile here but should get a soft run from the good barrier and she can maintain the winning form.

Dangers: 5. Watch Me Rumble was just behind the placings in the Coonamble Cup then ran well again when finishing second in the Coonabarabran Cup. She can give cheek again here. 6. Titled Tycoon impressed in easier grade at Coonabarabran and drops considerably in weight for this. 2. Deel Street hit the line well to run third in the Coonabarabran Cup and can be placed again in this.

How to play it: Simply Xtravagant WIN.

Race 7 - 5:00PM QUEENSLAND COTTON CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

7. Illusive Star has had four runs back from a spell and she has performed well in each of them. She was a winner at Forbes two starts ago and was only just beaten when second at Wellington last time out. She’ll take running down here.

Dangers: 1. Transplant resumed from a spell with a win at Dubbo then stepped up to TAB Highway company when down the track at Randwick last time out. This is a much easier assignment. 3. Celtic Harp is better for two runs back from a spell and a bold showing wouldn’t surprise. 4. I Like Big Putts led them up in TAB Highway grade at Rosehill last week and can take running down in this.

How to play it: Illusive Star WIN.

Race 8 - 5:40PM HALCROFT & BENNETT BM58 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

3. Deion had performed well in a trial before debuting with a strong finishing victory at Coonabarabran when arriving in the nick of time. He’s drawn to advantage in gate two here and should get every chance to maintain his unbeaten form.

Dangers: 5. Rockin’ Edition was placed behind Deion at Coonabarabran then followed it up with a Dubbo victory last week. He’s drawn well here in barrier one. 9. Simply Better is resuming here but did enough in a Wellington trial to be considered a chance. 1. Cuban Sunset is fresh for this and having his first run for a new stable. He bears close watching.

How to play it: Deion WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 3 (12) Bliss.
Race 8 (3) Deion.

Best Value:
Race 2 (8) Sons Of Bourke.
