John Schell's Tips For Wagga (Sunday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a good track

Race 1 - 12:35PM SANDBAR AT KOORINGAL 2YO HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

7. Flame Tree is a Pierro filly on debut for the strong Danielle Seib stable and she did the job well to score in a Kembla Grange trial leading into this. She looks to have the ability to perform well. 11. My Inspiration is also on debut, and she won a trial on the Riverside track here in preparation for this assignment. 2. Cashbook easily won a Canberra trial in preparation for his first race start here and he is a well-bred type that looks primed to run well. 3. Deekaygeebee finished fourth at his only start which was on this track and he has the talent to give this a shake.

How to play it: Flame Tree WIN.

Race 2 - 1:15PM MERCHANT NAVY AT KOORINGAL MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

5. In The Nic Of Time had a quiet trial at Goulburn before debuting with a solid second at this track last month when running well enough to suggest he can go on with the job and break through here. 12. Dita Von has finished second in each of her latest two starts at this track and should figure in the finish with a repeat of those efforts. 14. Party It Down wasn’t beaten too far on debut at Canberra when finishing fifth. She can figure in the finish of this. 8. Group Chat was safely held on debut at Albury but can improve enough here to be in the thick of things.

How to play it: In The Nic Of Time WIN.

Race 3 - 1:55PM FINANCE TYCOON SUPER MAIDEN SHOWCASE PLATE (1000 METRES)

7. Winning Emotions has only had the one race start and he finished fourth in that event at Goulburn last September. He resumes here and has had two recent trials in preparation. He’s drawn wide but should be hitting the line well. 10. Showtime Kistena has finished in the placings in all four starts since resuming from a spell and another bold showing is expected. 14. Starzzaborn ran home well to finish fourth at Gundagai last weekend and can get into the placings with a repeat of that effort. 3. Desert Boots is resuming after two jumpouts and bears close watching.

How to play it: Winning Emotions WIN.

Race 4 - 2:35PM SANDBAR GUINEAS PRELUDE 3YO BM66 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

2. Dupli Kate is a talented filly that gave nothing else a chance when scoring a strong win at Gundagai last weekend. She is a winner of three of 10 starts and can add to that record here. 4. Rose Aye scored a strong win at Nowra three starts ago and has finished second in both runs since then. She looms as the main danger here. The Danielle Seib trained stablemates 3. Due Calzini and 7. Adventure Seeker are both talented and can make an impact here without surprising.

How to play it: Dupli Kate WIN.

Race 5 - 3:15PM ASGARDA THE QUEEN OF THE SOUTH PRELUDE BM58 (1300 METRES)

3. Breakaway Week hit the line well to score a surprise victory at Goulburn when resuming from a spell. She is from a form stable, and it wouldn’t surprise if she went on with the job against these. 7. Jato was on debut at this track last November when he did the job well to score a strong victory. He should be primed to run well again here. 9. Bon Holler scored a strong Albury win on debut and backed that up with a last start fourth at the same track. 11. Remadosi won well at Nowra last time out and has claims again.

How to play it: Breakaway Week EACH WAY.

Race 6 - 3:50PM KOORINGAL STUD MURRUMBIDGEE CUP HEAT STAYERS SERIES (1800M)

1. Cliff House has a big weight to contend with but has been racing well with two seconds in the National Sprint and Wellington Cup at his latest two starts. He has the class to overcome the impost here from the good draw. 8. Burgundy Girl is a last start winner at this track and Star Buyer franked that form at Gundagai. 10. The Right Rein has been racing well with a Goulburn win being followed by a second at Canberra. 7. Helluva Soiree won well here last time out and has claims again.

How to play it: Cliff House WIN.

Race 7 - 4:30PM KOORINGAL STUD TOWN PLATE PRELUDE (1200 METRES)

7. Arthur The Great ran well when fourth in the SDRA Country Championships at this track and followed that up with a strong win here last time out. He should race on the speed here and take plenty of running down. 12. Keikoku charged home to finish second at Gundagai last weekend and the bigger track here should suit. 14. Hot Bandit won at Goulburn last November and was spelled after a solid fifth at Canterbury. 2. Iron Will has a solid record and resumes here on the back of a solid Canberra trial.

How to play it: Arthur The Great WIN.

Race 8 - 5:10PM THE BROTHERS WAR BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

7. Sacred Mistress followed a string of victories that included a couple of picnic victories with a last start runaway win at the Sapphire Coast. She’s racing in great form and is the one to beat again. 3. Sorry Sunshine ran well when a last start second at Albury and has solid claims again. 5. Philadelphia Storm defeated Sorry Sunshine two starts ago and then ran seventh here last time out. 8. Taumata was safely held at Albury at his latest start but had a couple of placings here before that.

How to play it: Sacred Mistress WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 4 (2) Dupli Kate.
Race 8 (7) Sacred Mistress.

Best Value:
Race 5 (3) Breakaway Week.
