John Schell's Tips For Taree (Friday)

By John Schell

(Selections based on a heavy track)

Race 1 - 1:00PM CELLARBRATIONS AT WINGHAM MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES):

5. Bonding is a well-bred mare with two placings to her name from just the four starts. She ran well when resuming with a second placing at Muswellbrook and should justify the short-priced favouritism by breaking her maiden here.

Dangers: 3. Rebel One has had plenty of chances and has been placed in five of 19. He hit the line well at Port Macquarie last time out and can be placed again. 6. Cats Quarters ran second at this track two starts ago and has minor claims again. 13. Temple Bells is yet to be placed from five starts but showed improvement at her latest start and could sneak into the money.

How to play it: Bonding & Rebel One QUINELLA.

Race 2 - 1:35PM DE BORTOLI WINES CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2000 METRES):

5. Brief Song resumed from a spell with a second at Scone then was down the track at Newcastle before improving with a third at Scone when last produced. She is set to peak here and should take plenty of beating.

Dangers: 6. Everlasting Kiss was a winner at Swan Hill three starts ago before a seventh at Flemington. She had her first run for a new stable when midfield at Newcastle and should be better for that hitout. 11. Justifiably has been placed in each of his latest three starts and looks to have the talent to figure prominently. 7. Le Souci is a last start Canberra winner that shouldn’t be underestimated.

How to play it: Brief Song WIN.

Race 3 - 2:10PM STACKS LAW FIRM SUPER MAIDEN SHOWCASE PLATE (1000 METRES):

9. Eagles Beware is on debut and has had two trials in preparation. He won the first of them at Hawkesbury before a sixth when close-up at Rosehill. He’s drawn well here and looks poised to run well.

Dangers: 13. Flame Of Hestia debuted with a down the track Kensington track effort in March and was spelled after that. She resumes here on the back of two trial wins and should be in the thick of things. 11. Punch One Out ran fourth at Newcastle on debut and can be placed here with a repeat of that, while 6. Sharpen The Knives has been placed in seven of 10 starts and can figure again.

How to play it: Eagles Beware EACH WAY.

Race 4 - 2:45PM TAREE KIA LIGHTNING HANDICAP (1000 METRES):

5. Buck Pharoah has a great heavy track record and has drawn the inside gate here. He hasn’t been far away in each of his four starts back from a spell and looks ready to show his best again.

Dangers: 2. De Poet has won two of his last three starts at this track and Port Macquarie either side of a Rosehill effort when down the track in much tougher company. He looks suited here. 1. Markwell Dreamer is a last start Doomben placegetter that should show up again here with a repeat of that performance. 6. Debussy had been midfield in recent runs but is capable of showing up here without surprising.

How to play it: Buck Pharoah WIN.

Race 5 - 3:20PM XXXX COUNTRY MAGIC CLASS 2 SHOWCASE PLATE (1250 METRES):

9. Where’stheprofit has only had two starts but has looked the goods winning each of them at Mudgee and Narromine. He has the ability to go on with the job in this.

Dangers: 12. Beyond My Ken was a winner on debut at Scone then tackled Group 3 company when down the track before being spelled. He resumed with a third at Muswellbrook and should figure prominently against these. 2. Galano is resuming for a new stable but has shown enough talent in his career to be rated a leading contender. 14. Pony Soprano followed a debut Coffs Harbour win with a second at Port Macquarie and he can show up again on the strength of those efforts.

How to play it: Where’stheprofit WIN.

Race 6 - 4:00PM BAKEWELL HAULAGE KRAMBACH CUP (1600 METRES):

10. He’s A Copy Boy ran well when third at this track at his latest start. His form was patchy in his previous three starts but he has a good overall record and only needs to run up to his best to be hard to hold out.

Dangers: 11. The Young Years won here three starts ago and since then ran second at Tuncurry before a solid midfield in Highway grade at Rosehill. This looks a suitable assignment. 12. All Too Rosey has been in good form with two wins from her last five starts. She wasn’t beaten far when sixth at Kempsey last time out. 1. Oakfield Redgum should be better for a first-up assignment.

How to play it: He’s A Copy Boy WIN.

R7 - 4:40PM SKY INTERNATIONAL TAREE GOLD CUP BIG DANCE ELIGIBILITY (2000 M):

2. Aristonous has been racing well in city grade races of late and comes into this having finished second and third at Warwick Farm in his latest two runs. He should be strong to the line here and looms as a leading contender.

Dangers: 3. I Am The Empire was placed at Rosehill three starts ago and is a last start Doomben winner. He’s drawn well here and should prove hard to hold out. 4. Fay’s Angel ran well when second at Rosehill at her latest outing and can show up again here with a repeat of that effort. 5. Our Bambino was midfield in the Port Macquarie Cup last week and his form before that was solid.

How to play it: Aristonous WIN.

Race 8 - 5:20PM ALLAN BAKEWELL MEMORIAL KRAMBACH SPRINT (1250 METRES):

6. Imatruestar is first-up from a spell he has won when resuming. He’s a consistent performer that can sprint well fresh here without surprising.

Dangers: 5. Diamond Model had some solid city form with a number of placings before tackling Group 3 company last time out and failing to beat a runner home in the Toy Show. She will find this much easier. 7. Auzstar won at Kempsey before a last start placing at Bowraville. He can give cheek. 11. October Revolution has been placed in his last two starts and can show up again on that form.

How to play it: Imatruestar WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 4 (5) Buck Pharoah.
Race 7 (2) Aristonous.

Best Value:
Race 3 (9) Eagles Beware.
