Selections based on a good track
Race 1 - 1:10PM 2EC & POWER FM COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES) |
---|
1. Micon started his career in the Gary Portelli stable for which he had one trial in December, 2022. He was subsequently transferred to the Natalie Jarvis stable and he has had a recent trial at Moruya in which he wasn’t beaten far. Expect him to give a good sight on debut here.
Dangers: 3. Sooby Rose looked good winning a trial at Queanbeyan leading into this debut. She looks to have potential and should be considered in the main chances. 5. A Million Roses has only had one start and while she failed to beat a runner home that was in listed grade in Brisbane. She’ll find this easier. 8. Shrimp has been placed in three of her past four starts and is worth including among the main chances.
How to play it: Micon WIN.
Race 2 - 1:45PM BEGA BETTA HOME LIVING SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES) |
---|
4. Ghaznavi performed well in a couple of trials before debuting with a solid fourth at Canterbury when not beaten far. He backed that up with a good third at Warwick Farm when beaten less than a length and that form looks strong for a race like this.
Dangers: 1. Eltoroson has only been placed in one of his six starts but has shown enough ability to be considered a leading contender. He finished fourth at Moruya last time out and should have derived benefit from that resuming run. 10. Welcometobarbados did enough at her only start when finishing fourth to be rated a good chance against these. 3. Ten Feathers has finished second in each of his latest two starts at Wagga and a repeat of those efforts would give him claims in this.
How to play it: Ghaznavi WIN.
Race 3 - 2:20PM M & R SERVICES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1200 METRES) |
---|
3. All Too Lucky was a trial winner before debuting with a close-up fourth at Gosford. She since had another trial before breaking her maiden with a victory at Moruya at her second start.
Dangers: 2. Epaullo Creed has struck winning form of late having scored at his latest two starts at Nowra and Moruya. He’s drawn well in this and should be thereabouts again. 5. Cani Cancan has missed a place at her past two starts but has shown enough in her career to be rated a chance in this. 9. Queen Maxima led throughout to score at Queanbeyan last time out and has the talent to give cheek again.
How to play it: All Too Lucky WIN.
Race 4 - 2:55PM BEGA BOBCATS BEGA SHOWCASE SPRINT (1200 METRES) |
---|
5. Merc is a versatile galloper that has been racing in great form of late. He can sprint home well on the back off a good speed and can also take up a forward position if needed, which may well be the case from the outside gate here. He only needs to maintain his form to be a major factor.
Dangers: 1. Northernero was close-up at Flemington two starts back then led and held on well to score at Wangaratta. He’s drawn well here and should figure prominently. 2. Kattegat was narrowly beaten in the Moruya Town Plate at his latest start and a forward showing is on the cards again. 4. Iconic Dame won the Moruya Town Plate and must be included among the main chances again.
How to play it: Merc EACH WAY.
Race 5 - 3:30PM BEGA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SHOWCASE C2 HANDICAP (1200 METRES) |
---|
2. Everido has only had two starts and they were both at Canberra and both resulted in victories. He has shown plenty of ability and Jack Martin, who was aboard in both wins, stays in the saddle for this.
Dangers: 7. I’m A Steel has only had two starts and followed a debut Nowra win as an odds-on favourite with an eighth in Highway grade at Rosehill, again as favourite when not beaten far. This is a more suitable race. 3. Tavolo resumed from a spell with a Canberra win and has won two of her five starts. She must be considered as a leading contender. 1. Selhurst Park was placed at Moruya last time out and can figure in the minor money again.
How to play it: Everido WIN.
Race 6 - 4:07PM BATEUP RACING SAPPHIRE COAST CUP - BM66 HANDICAP (2200 METRES) |
---|
6. Foxtrot Bravo hit the line well to score another win at Moruya last time out over 2010m and the step up to 2200m here looks made to order. He’s drawn to get the run of the race and should take plenty of beating again.
Dangers: 3. Final Comment had been racing well enough in Highway company in town before finishing a last start second to Foxtrot Bravo at Moruya and warrants thought again. 5. Will To Excel ran well enough when a last start second at Gosford and could be placed again. 2. Abseiler has been racing well at Wagga of late and is not out of this.
How to play it: Foxtrot Bravo WIN.
Race 7 - 4:45PM BEGA CHEESE BEGA SHOWCASE CUP (1600 METRES) |
---|
8. One Aye is talented on her day and she ran well at her latest start when finishing third in the Moruya Cup against a couple of rivals she lines up against in this. She’s drawn barrier one and shouldn’t be underestimated.
Dangers: 3. Pioneer Lass has been racing well with a resuming Kembla Grange win being followed by a placing at Gosford in the Belle Of The Turf and a last start second at Rosehill. She should give a good sight again. 6. The Guru is handy at best and has been contesting city races. He is a knockout chance on the back of a good speed here. 11. Victory At Omaha resumed from a spell with a strong win at Moruya and is drawn to get a good run here.
How to play it: One Aye EACH WAY.
Race 8 - 5:30PM JOSEPH JONES RACING COUNTRY MAGIC BM58 HANDICAP (1400M) |
---|
6. Reet Petite has only missed a place in one of her five starts and she comes into this after a last start second at Canberra. She has the talent to give this a shake.
Dangers: 8. Must was a solid last start second at Moruya behind Epaullo Creed and can be placed with a repeat of that. 5. Deni Gal ran well enough at Moruya two starts ago and her city form either side of that run has been solid enough for a race like this. 12. Sooboogeliscious failed as favourite at Nowra on a soft track last time out but is capable of improvement in this.
How to play it: Reet Petite EACH WAY.
Best Bets:
Race 5 (2) Everido.
Race 6 (6) Foxtrot Bravo.
Best Value:
Race 4 (5) Merc.
