John Schell's Tips For Moruya (Tuesday)

By John Schell

(Selections based on a good track)

Race 1 - 1:00PM AARON GRANT ELECTRICAL MAIDEN HCP (1425 METRES):

3. Adventure Seeker is a filly by The Autumn Sun having her first race start here having had two barrier trials. She has been behind the placings in each of those on the Acton track at Canberra and then at Hawkesbury. This distance looks like it will suit and she is primed to run a good race.

Dangers: 2. A Double Degree has been placed in each of his latest two starts when beaten under a length in each of them. He’s lightly raced and looks to be on an upward spiral. This looks a suitable race for him. 5. Dashing Power led and battled on well when third at Queanbeyan last time out and although he’s had plenty of chances, he warrants respect here. 1. Tabei was placed on debut at Nowra but has failed in each of her two runs either side of a spell since then. She can improve here.

How to play it: Adventure Seeker WIN.

Race 2 - 1:35PM ONECALL STEEL AND FORM MAIDEN PLATE (920 METRES):

5. Let’s Go Again performed well in a trial earlier in the year before debuting with a fourth at Queanbeyan. She backed that up with a second at this track and was spelled. She resumes here.

Dangers: 1. Commandoro was on debut for a new stable and ran well here last time out when finishing second. He has the talent to give a big shake. 8. Power Smash has had two trials, winning the latest of them at Randwick, and has shown enough ability to be rated a leading contender, while 9. Noble Ruby debuted with a second at this track and is sure to be prominent again in this line-up.

How to play it: Let’s Go Again WIN.

Race 3 - 2:10PM DOUGLASS BLINDS AND SECURITY SCREENS MAIDEN (1200 METRES):

6. Nagadec is a mare on debut and she has been fitted for this with two trials either side of a break. She ran third in the most recent of them at this track and she looks ready to make an impact.

Dangers: 1. Bounty By Knight ran fifth at Wagga at his latest start and returns from a break here on the back of a trial at Canberra. He’s been placed in three of six starts and should be primed to run well. 8. Bubble Tea has only had three starts and has been placed in each of them. She’s a handy filly and can show up here without surprising. 10. Showtime Maggie is on debut and her trial at Canberra was solid. This looks a nice race for her to start her career.

How to play it: Nagadec WIN.

Race 4 - 2:50PM MERINGO STUD COUNTRY BOOSTED BM 58 HCP (1200 METRES):

3. Fourcade comes into this on the back of a good fourth at Rosehill in Highway grade. She’d won at the Sapphire Coast and been placed here in the two runs before that. Her form is great for this event.

Dangers: 4. Soho Sushi was a winner at this track three starts ago, then finished second here before tackling Highway grade when midfield last time out. She can improve here. 1. Peruno is a last start winner at this track and should show up again with a repeat, while 6. Major Desire won at Queanbeyan before being spelled and ran well in a trial leading into this.

How to play it: Fourcade WIN.

Race 5 - 3:25PM MOGO WILDLIFE PARK BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1010 METRES):

5. Asuriito looked good in his trials before debuting at this track and scoring a strong win after racing on the speed. He only needs to run up to that to be hard to beat again.

Dangers: 3. Laguna Seca broke through to score a win at the Sapphire Coast last time out when leading throughout. He’s shown the talent in his career to be able to go on with the job. 2. Tokyo Ice was a winner at Nowra before finishing fifth at Wagga when not beaten far. She can race well in this company. 7. Hermosa Rosa scored a solid win at Orange at her latest start and she wasn’t disgraced in two midfield efforts before that. She looms as a chance here.

How to play it: Asuriito WIN.

R6 - 4:05PM SCB DISTRIBUTORS LEGEND OF THE SOUTH OCTOBER 4TH BM 74 (1010 M):

1. Gogol hit the line well to score a strong win at Wagga two starts ago, then led and fought on well to be beaten less than a length when fourth on the Acton track at Canberra at his latest start. He’s drawn well and the apprentice claim will assist.

Dangers: 5. Fourth Spargo has only missed a place once from nine starts and has won two of her last three starts, with the last three runs being at this track. She is sure to make an impact again. 7. Princeston won at this track in October last year and ran well in provincial grade before being spelled. 9. Selhurst Park has been placed in each of his last three starts and could easily figure in the minor money again.

How to play it: Gogol EACH WAY.

Race 7 - 4:40PM R & G ELECTRICAL AND DATA BM 58 HANDICAP (1650 METRES):

1. Spritely Emily wasn’t beaten far when midfield at Goulburn and then hit the line well at this track last time out to score at this track. She’s racing in great heart and warrants respect again here.

Dangers: 3. Easy Company was placed when resuming at the Sapphire Coast and has been midfield in to runs since. 7. Prince Papa ran second here two starts ago and then ran third at Queanbeyan when last produced. He warrants plenty of thought again here. 10. Jewel Approach was fifth to Spritely Emily here last time out and has place claims.

How to play it: Spritely Emily WIN.

Race 8 - 5:15PM HIVE HOTEL CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1425 METRES):

5. Astrogazer led them up when he debuted with a solid second at this track last month, then showed the benefit of that run when scoring a good win as favourite at Wagga at just his second start. He’s drawn to get the run of the race from gate one here and is poised to win again.

Dangers: 1. Capital Heart only has one win to his name but has a number of placings. He resumed at Newcastle last time out and while he was down the track in that event. This is easier and he can bounce back. 6. Trianon won here in July and comes into this on the back of a last start fourth here. He could sneak into the placings. 10. Achieve Perfection won narrowly on the Acton track at Canberra two starts back before a last start midfield Hawkesbury finish. He can figure in this.

How to play it: Astrogazer WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 4 (3) Fourcade.
Race 8 (5) Astrogazer.

Best Value:
Race 6 (1) Gogol.
