John Schell's Tips For Gunnedah (Tuesday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a good track

Race 1 - 2:10PM H & M REFRIGERATION MAIDEN PLATE (1300 METRES)

8. Dance Off was scratched from an event at Coffs Harbour on Sunday in order to be saved for this assignment. She comes into this on the back of a last start second at Inverell and she finished third at Armidale three starts ago. Dance Off has drawn well in this and gets her chance to break through.

Dangers: 9. Jody Girl has been paced in five of her eight starts including a last start third at Muswellbrook. She can give a sight again in this. 11. Via Rose comes into this on the back of a last start third at Tamworth when big odds and can sneak into the minor money again. 5. Wanda River has also been placed in five of eight starts and a bold showing is on the cards.

How to play it: Dance Off WIN.

Race 2 - 2:45PM THE VERDICT COFFEE MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

4. Smoke On The Water is on debut and has had two trials in preparation. He ran second in the first of them at Tamworth, then scored in the second of them at his home track Muswellbrook when Aaron Bullock was in the saddle. Bullock sticks for this which is a good sign.

Dangers: 2. Carbrook had two trials earlier in the year before debuting with a fourth at Tamworth in June. He looks to have ability and can run well fresh in this. 6. Holy Song finished midfield at Tamworth on debut and has the advantage of barrier one here with Ben Looker to ride. 1. Miss Adamas will be improved by a first-up sixth at Tamworth.

How to play it: Smoke On The Water WIN.

Race 3 - 3:25PM COOL BLUE ICE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

4. Takanakuy is a handy performer with four wins to her name from 12 starts. She resumed from a spell with a Narromine victory before finishing second at Tamworth as favourite. She since bounced back with an impressive Gosford victory last month. Takanakuy is fresh for this and she has the advantage of barrier one.

Dangers: 3. Outta De Lady finished second at Tamworth two starts back then was midfield at the ame track last time out after leading. He can give cheek again in this. 5. Dune And Dusted scored at big odds at Tamworth two starts back then was midfield at Coffs Harbour. 6. The Affirmative was placed at Inverell when last produced and has place claims again.

How to play it: Takanakuy WIN.

Race 4 - 4:05PM MANNION DRILLING CLASS 1 HANDICAP (900 METRES)

1. Outishka led throughout as an odds-on favourite to score at Moree when resuming from a spell and since finished second in her two runs at Dubbo before being spelled again. She finished third in her only other start when on debut at Scone last March. Outishka is resuming again here and won a recent trial at Muswellbrook.

Dangers: 6. Crimson Bonnet won on debut at Moree last August and she resumes in this. 4. Broadbeach Dancer was a winner at Tamworth before being spelled then resumed with a fourth at Quirindi leading into this. 8. Rinnero has only won one from 25 but has run some good races in his career.

How to play it: Outishka WIN.

Race 5 - 4:40PM BANKSIA GROUP CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

6. More For Us hit the line well when breaking his maiden to score at Tamworth two starts ago. He followed that up with a second at Coffs Harbour behind Ponte Vecchio when he battled on strongly. Mikayla Weir has been in the saddle on More For Us in his latest four starts and sticks in this.

Dangers: 10. Miss Nicolini has run well at her latest two starts when placed at Tamworth and Quirindi and she only needs to run up to those efforts to be a chance here. 4. I Am Convincing won at Armidale three starts ago and has since finished third at Tamworth before a midfield effort at Muswellbrook. 5. Karaoke King was placed at Muswellbrook and Warren before finished fourth at Gilgandra when last produced.

How to play it: More For Us WIN.

Race 6 - 5:15PM VALLEY FASTENERS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

3. Zounile was a strong winner at Dubbo in November then ran well when placed in her next three starts before scoring again at Gilgandra last time out when racing on the pace throughout. Zoe Hunt sticks with Zounile in this and her three-kilogram allowance brings her into this with 57kg to carry.

Dangers1. Awaygoesthebunny has won his past two starts at Moree and Inverell and there’s no reason he can’t repeat the dose. 2. Rolled Gold won at this track two starts ago and since finished a close-up fifth at Muswellbrook. He is worth plenty of thought again. 4. Big Time Charlie won the event at Muswellbrook that Rolled Gold ran in and is worth including among the main chances.

How to play it: Zounile WIN.

Race 7 - 5:50PM ULTRA FLEET CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

4. Extra Smart has run well in Highway grade at Rosehill and comes into this on the back of a last start second at Coffs Harbour. She’s drawn to get the run of the race from the inside draw here.

Dangers: 2. Wiggles impressed when scoring by a big margin at Inverell last time out and only needs to run up to that to be rated a leading contender. 5. Rapid Ruby was resuming for a new stable when a solid second at Tamworth last time out. 11. Ballet Pride wasn’t beaten far at Inverell last time out and could be placed here.

How to play it: Extra Smart EACH WAY.

R3 4. Takanakuy
R4 1. Outishka

BEST VALUE:
R7 4. Extra Smart.
