John Schell's Tips For Goulburn (Tuesday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a good track

Race 1 - 1:10PM SUPERIOR TURF COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

8. Raiderlicious is a filly on debut by Kermadec and she tuned up for this even with a midfield effort in a trial at this track. She was beaten less than two lengths in that assignment and hasn’t struck an overly strong field here. She’s drawn wide but looks to have the ability to overcome that.

Dangers: 1. Bounty By Knight resumed from a spell with a second behind subsequent winner Pressilly at Moruya. A repeat of that effort would have him hard to hold out here. 3. Parthenope debuts here and has finished third in a trial before winning the latest of them. She shows talent and is one of the leading contenders here. 4. Voriah was a last start fourth at this track and could be placed with a repeat.

How to play it: Raiderlicious WIN.

Race 2 - 1:45PM REGISTER INTEREST W/KURRINDA BLOOD. FOR 2025 MAIDEN (1600M)

1. Ocean Diva has been racing well having figured in the placings in her latest two starts on the Kensington track and then at Kembla Grange. She’s drawn to get a good run here.

Dangers: 2. Saint Emilion has only had two starts and was placed at Newcastle on debut before a last start seventh at Kembla Grange. He has the ability to run well here. 4. Aranese was a last start placegetter at Wyong and has bright claims here if he runs up to that. 7. Adventure Seeker ran second at Moruya on debut and then ran down the track at Wagga at her only other start. She can make an impact here.

How to play it: Ocean Diva WIN.

Race 3 - 2:20PM EVERGREEN TURF AUSTRALIA BM8 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

2. Ken’ker won his maiden at the Sapphire Coast four starts ago when racing on the speed and holding on well. He then placed at Nowra and Goulburn before a seventh at Wagga at his latest run. He wasn’t beaten far in that and can bounce back here.

Dangers: 1. Order To Charge was a winner at Nowra two starts ago and then ran down the track in Highway grade at Rosehill last time out. He has the talent to give this a shake. 3. Hurricane Coni has been midfield in his two latest starts and this looks well within his reach. 5. Prince Papa only has one win to his name but he has had a number of recent placings and is not of out of this.

How to play it: Ken’ker WIN.

Race 4 - 2:55PM THE COUNTRY OUTFITTERS CLASS 1 & MAIDEN (2125 METRES)

3. Pauji Power has found form of late having been placed in each of his latest two starts at Moruya and Canberra. He has been beaten under a length in each of those runs and races as though the extra trip here won’t be a problem.

Dangers: 6. Stand In Line has been placed in four of 10 starts and comes into this on the back of a last start midfield effort behind Taumata at Wagga. He can improve in this but does need to. 1. City Gold Ready has a win and a placing from 10 starts and was a beaten favourite leading into this. He has talent and can improve sharply. 2. Firealarm won on the Acton track at Canberra three starts ago and is not out of this if he can run up to that.

How to play it: Pauji Power WIN.

Race 5 - 3:35PM KIRK'S BRIDGE FARM BM58 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

3. Bentley Brook won at this track over this distance back in March and was placed in his next three starts before being spelled. He resumes from a spell here and while he is yet to figure in the placings from three first-up runs he can turn that around in this.

Dangers: 7. Getty has been out of the placings of late but has shown plenty of talent in his career and looms as a leading contender in this grade. 5. Artieos has won three of her last five starts and while this is tougher she is worth including among the main chances. 2. Vainstream is getting on in years but continues to race well and is not out of this.

How to play it: Bentley Brook WIN.

Race 6 - 4:10PM SEMCO EQUIPMENT SALES MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)

6. Apollo Ridge is making his debut here and has had a good grounding with four trials under his belt. He has been placed in the latest two at Warwick Farm and Randwick.

Dangers: 11. Broadcast Boogie was placed on debut at Gosford and then ran fifth at Hawkesbury before being spelled. He wasn’t far away in a recent Hawkesbury trial and a bold showing is on the cards from the good draw. 10. Blue Moves has been placed in two of her three starts and warrants respect here at her first run back from a spell. 4. Star Pastures is on debut and has had a number of trials to prepare. A forward showing would not surprise.

How to play it: Apollo Ridge WIN.

Race 7 - 4:45PM GOULBURN MAZDA & ISUZU UTE BM66 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

2. Cable Express is first-up from a spell but had shown glimpses of good ability last campaign. He won at Wagga before running second in the MTC Guineas when fighting hard to the line after racing on the speed. He was spelled after failing to fire on the Kensington track but has had a trial.

Dangers: 1. Dodi finished second at this track when last produced and only needs to run up to that to be a chance in this. 4. Breaking Ground was placed at Canberra last week and can figure again if he runs up to that performance. 7. Ronny Rock Art is an ultra consistent galloper that was a winner here two starts ago and then ran second at Canberra when last produced.

How to play it: Cable Express WIN.

Race 8 - 5:20PM GOULBURN ROOFING CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

4. Ladyking showed talent early in her career before breaking through at start seven over a longer trip before being spelled. She resumes here and can sprint well fresh on the back of two trials.

Dangers: 5. Sir Lunchalots had performed well in trials before debuting at this track last month and doing the job well to score a strong win when racing on the speed and proving too strong. He can go on with the job here. 8. Media Frenzy has finished second in two of her last three starts and only needs to run up to those efforts to be a chance in this. 3. Spencer’s Spirit is a last start Nowra placegetter that is worth including among the place chances again.

How to play it: Ladyking EACH WAY.

Best Bets:
Race 6 (6) Apollo Ridge.
Race 7 (2) Cable Express.

Best Value:
Race 8 (4) Ladyking.
