John Schell's Tips For Goulburn (Tuesday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a good track

R1 - 1:15PM GOULBURN PRODUCE COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW C4 HCP (1300 M):

2. Rouge Lune was resuming from a spell when running at Moruya when last produced and he did the job well when leading throughout to score a narrow win. He’s got a good record with three wins and as many placings from just 10 starts and another bold showing is on the cards here.

Dangers: 7. Sir Ming has been racing well since resuming from a spell with a fifth and a third in Highway grade at Randwick being followed by a last start second at Canberra. He should take plenty of beating on the strength of that form. 1. King Gutho comes into this after a last start second at Canberra and has the benefit of gate one. 6. Destructive Diva won at this track two starts ago and is not out of this.

How to play it: Rouge Lune WIN.

Race 2 - 1:50PM DOUGLASS BLINDS & SECURITY SCREENS BM 58 HCP (1600 M):

1. Associate was a winner at Wagga back in April then finished fourth at that track before being spelled. He’s had two starts since resuming, both in Highway grade at Randwick and Rosehill, and has been just behind the placings in each of them.

Dangers: 3. Stand Guard led throughout to score at Hawkesbury two starts ago and should be in the firing line again if he can repeat that effort. 2. King Of Hearts won here three starts ago and was placed at Kembla Grange at is latest outing. 6. Chaotic Beauty has been just behind the placings in her latest two Wagga starts and could sneak into the money.

How to play it: Associate WIN.

Race 3 - 2:25PM GOULBURN CARPET COURT MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES):

5. Lady Doris is on debut here and has had a couple of recent trials in preparation. Her latest trial was an improvement on the first one, and she’s drawn to advantage in barrier two here. She should get a good run and can give a bold sight.

Dangers: 9. Capabelle had two starts last year at Scone and Goulburn and was just behind the placings in each of them. She finished second in a recent trial to prepare for this and should be primed to run well. 4. Are Ee Que debuted as an odds-on favourite with a fourth at Gosford, then finished near last but wasn’t beaten far at her only other start. 7. Quality Miss was down the track at her only start and has had a solid trial leading into this resuming run.

How to play it: Lady Doris EACH WAY.

Race 4 - 3:05PM DOYLES SEAFOOD RESTAURANT CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000 METRES):

5. Santasia looked good winning a couple of trials before debuting with a solid second at Gosford. She since atoned for that defeat when leading throughout to score by a big margin at Kembla Grange.

Dangers: 10. Sky Artist had solid form last preparation then looked good in a couple of trials before resuming with a strong win on a heavy track at Nowra. She can go on with the job here. 2. Azayaka justified short-priced favouritism to win at Muswellbrook two starts back then was midfield at Gosford. 3. Free Enterprise is resuming on the back of a Rosehill trial placing and has claims.

How to play it: Santasia WIN.

R5 - 3:40PM DIVALLS EARTHMOVING C1 HANDICAP- HEAT OF THE RISING STAR (1200 M):

3. Emancipist has only won the one race from 12 starts but it was at this track in maiden grade midway through last year. He resumed from a spell at the end of December and finished a close-up second at Kembla Grange behind Nicci’s Gem.

Dangers: 7. Full Revolution resumed from a spell with a second behind a handy type at Gosford then raced on the speed and held on to score a narrow win at Gosford. 10. Super Norwest was a maiden winner at Moruya four starts ago and resumed last month with a fourth at the same track. 2. Sizzler is resuming from a spell but was racing well last campaign.

How to play it: Emancipist WIN.

Race 6 - 4:15PM GOULBURN HAY SUPPLIES MAIDEN PLATE (1500 METRES):

12. Flying Chevrolet debuted with a close-up second at Orange when starting as favourite then stepped up to city grade and ran well again when fourth at Warwick Farm. She will find this an easier task and from the good gate looks the one to beat.

Dangers: 5. Rawano is on debut and after having two trials last campaign he’s had another two leading into this. He should be ready to run well. 11. Cook Island Girl wasn’t beaten far when finishing third at Nowra when second-up from a spell and can figure here. 14. Media Frenzy was placed at Canberra at her latest start and could sneak into the minor money again.

How to play it: Flying Chevrolet WIN.

Race 7 - 4:50PM AARON GRANT ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1000 METRES):

3. Elegant Empress was resuming from a spell when she was narrowly beaten into second placing at Queanbeyan. She followed that up with a strong finishing win at Muswellbrook when hitting the line well and only needs to run up to that to be hard to hold out again.

Dangers: 9. Proud Image resumed from a spell with a Nowra victory and can figure again here. 2. Ostracised resumed with a midfield Gosford effort and should have come on from that. 6. Invasive is first-up from a spell and a bold fresh showing is on the cards.

How to play it: Elegant Empress WIN.

Race 8 - 5:30PM GOULBURN EXPRESS FREIGHT MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES):

11. Countyourblessings has been placed in two of her three starts and finished fourth in city grade in her only other run at Canterbury. She’s had two trials leading into this return to racing and won the latest of them at Rosehill. She’ll start very short here with Godzilla scratched.

Dangers: 8. Amnesia is on debut and has had three trials to prepare for this. She’s been placed in the latest two and should run well here. 10. Cintia is drawn wide but can improve on a down the track city debut. 1. Noble One is normally around the money and has bright place claims.

How to play it: 8 & 11 QUINELLA.

Best Bets:
Race 5 (3) Emancipist.
Race 7 (3) Elegant Empress.

Best Value:
Race 3 (5) Lady Doris.
