John Schell's Tips For Albury (Tuesday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a heavy track

Race 1 - 1:25PM GPE ELETRICAL & COMMUNICATION CONTRACTOR MAIDEN (900M)

1. Boy From Tennessee has had four starts and has been placed in two of them, with both being at this track. He hit the line well enough for a third when last produced and drops back in distance for this assignment. He gets his chance to break through.

Dangers: 2. Four Esses is a five-year-old mare on debut in this and she has won her only trial at Corowa. She’s drawn a good enough gate here to get a good a run here. 3. Shadow Black is also on debut and comes into this having contested the sae trial that Four Esses contested at Corowa. 6. Bridget Rose was placed in three of her four starts before being spelled and she looks poised to run well in this.

How to play it: Boy From Tennessee WIN.

Race 2 - 2:05PM ALBURY DEMOLITIONS MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

7. Ten Feathers has been placed in 10 of 27 starts and he was midfield in his latest outing at Gundagai.

Dangers: 3. Oversize is yet to threaten in three starts but is capable of a sharp improvement. 10. I See Stars was placed here when having her second start, and she can run into the money again. 1. Brilliant Badger has some talent and is far from the worst in this.

How to play it: Ten Feathers WIN.

Race 3 - 2:40PM AVIS COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN PLATE (1175 METRES)

1. Chevrolet Star is on debut here for a local stable and has performed well enough in his two trials leading into this to be considered a leading contender. He wasn’t beaten far when sixth in the first trial at Corowa, then was only beaten 1.51 lengths when third in his second trial at Wagga. He’s drawn well here and is worth plenty of thought.

Dangers: 4. Reward In Time had a string of placings before finishing a last start eighth at Wagga after leading. He’s been placed in six of 16 starts and is well worth including among the man chances here. 5. Sogeri has been just behind the placings of late and could sneak into the minor money. 8. Outta Spiet was safely held on debut but could improve in this.

How to play it: Chevrolet Star WIN.

Race 4 - 3:15PM ATM HERE CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

8. Tropical Breeze is trained by recently retired jockey Danny Beasley and comes into this event on the back of a win at Wagga at just her second race start before being spelled. She’s had two trials in preparation for this return to racing and has drawn well. Apprentice Holly Durnan’s two-kilogram claim will assist.

Dangers: 9. Spirit Lake resumed with a solid effort at Albury and has since had a trial at Corowa to prepare for this. She can sprint well fresh. 2. Independent resumes from a spell here and can lift on the form of last preparation. 6. Aqualina’s Star disappointed when last produced but can bounce back.

How to play it: Tropical Breeze WIN.

Race 5 - 3:55PM STEWART GOULD REAL ESTATE BM58 HANDICAP (1500 METRES)

8. Prince Papa was a winner at Wagga last preparation and that followed a second at Canberra. He was spelled after a failure at Nowra and has since resumed with a third at Queanbeyan before a ninth at Forbes. This looks a better race for him and an improvement is on the cards.

Dangers: 9. Sorry Sunshine won at Wagga before being spelled and has had two runs back from the break with the last start fifth at Wagga looking good enough to give this a shake. 1. Dynamic One finished second at Gudagai when last produced and can show up here without surprising. 6. Tillman resumed from a spell with a fourth placing and can show up here with a repeat of that.

How to play it: Prince Papa EACH WAY.

Race 6 - 4:35PM MEREDITH ROOF PLUMBING BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

7. Shooting For Stars hit the line well when finishing second at Narrandera last month. That was a solid effort and he backed that up with a last start close-up fourth at this track as favourite. He is racing well enough to give this a shake.

Dangers: 3. Broadside Armour has been out of the placings of late but looks to have the talent to be able to show up here at his best. 2. Sheila is a last start winner that is drawn well and worth including among the chances. 12. Destiny’s Prophet has the inside gate and can give some cheek with the light weight.

How to play it: Shooting For Stars WIN.

Race 7 - 5:10PM MEREDITH JOINERY CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

5. Yam has finished second at his latest two starts at this track at Wagga. His form is solid enough to be rated as a leading contender in this.

Dangers: 9. Tincity has only had three starts. She won on debut at Wagga, then ran third at Mudgee before battling on well at Forbes. She should give plenty of cheek again. 11. Southern Dancer won at this track at her second start and she wasn’t beaten far at Wagga last time out. She is worth thought here. 13. Whitehart hasn’t been far away of late and is far from the worst in this field.

How to play it: Yam WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 3 (1) Chevrolet Star.
Race 4 (8) Tropical Breeze.
