The Chris Davis trained Jayzeal will have a crack at back-to-back wins when the gelding tackles the 1600m 2025 CopRice Leeton Cup on Saturday.
The six-year-old from the Wangaratta stable won the 2024 Cup in a tight finish, coming down the outside of the field with a big run and lunged at the post in a photo finish with the Holbrook Cup winner Dark Legacy.
Jayzeal enjoys a dry track, was fifth in his last start at Kerang over 1800m on April 19 and will saddle up for his 42nd start at Leeton with apprentice Brittany Button in the saddle again.
With the track rated as a Good 4, a total of 105 nominations and 62 acceptances have been received for the April 26 meeting.

Wangaratta trainer Andrew Dale has nominated the in-form Vonk for the Yenda Producers Benchmark 50 Handicap over 1150m.
The six-year-old gelding is fresh from a win at Narrandera over 1000m on March 22 and ridden to a win at Hillston by Teagan Martin over 1200m on April 5.
Vonk will be ridden by Brittany Button. Swan Hill trainer Nathan Hobson is also travelling to Leeton with TrusttheSherrif for the Benchmark 50 Handicap after the mare’s win at Carrathool over 1200m on April 12.
Leeton trainer and one of the nation’s oldest full-time trainers, Peter Clancy, will be saddling up The Bay Fox, Mayfair Hotel, Jeddyla and Izablonde. Mayfair Hotel will carry 55kg and be ridden by Josh Richards in the CopRice Leeton Cup.
With gates opening at 11.30am and the first race at 1.45pm, the 2025 CopRice Leeton Cup will feature Fashions on the Field, live music, children’s entertainment, marquees on the lawn, under cover betting ring and full bar and canteen facilities.
Leeton Jockey Club president Grant Fitzsimon said the track and grounds looked a picture and trainers had responded with horses coming from southern and central NSW, ACT, and Victoria.
