Stablehand/rider Sarah Hartwell fell off her horse at Tuncurry Racecourse on Friday morning (3rd January) when riding for trainer Terry Evans. Sarah remained conscious and suffered right leg soreness when her leg was caught under the fallen horse. She also had pain to her neck. Sarah is being attended to by ambulance officers and is expected to be airlifted to John Hunter Hospital at Newcastle as there is no trauma centre at Port Macquarie Hospital.

[Update at 2pm on Friday 3rd January]: Sarah's partner has reported that she will be admitted overnight at John Hunter Hospital for observation and will be re-examined tomorrow. Scans have cleared her leg of any breaks or fractures. Doctors are awaiting results of CT scans of her neck and abdomen to clear her of any further injuries.
