Jockey James Innes Jnr hit his head on the top of the barrier structure and was dislodged when his mount reared in the barriers as the start was effected in Race 7 at Canberra today.
James was experiencing pain in his neck and back and was attended to by ambulance officers. It was recommended James be transported to hospital but he declined.
After monitoring him for a period of time, James was released into the care of his partner Teaghan who will continue to monitor him.
[Update on Sunday night]: James has advised he will organise a neck x-ray first thing Monday morning along with a full assessment.
