Cessnock-based racehorse trainer Larry Fairhall, who was riding trackwork today [8th February], returned from the course and then collapsed. Larry complained of chest pains and struggled for breath before ambulance officers arrived a short time later. Larry was treated on course before being taken to John Hunter Hospital and indications are that Larry is recovering well but will remain in hospital until next week as doctors run further tests.
(Update at 3pm on Friday, 9th February): Larry Fairhall is expected to be discharged from John Hunter Hospital in the next couple of days. Larry was admitted to hospital on Tuesday after collapsing and complaining of chest pains and shortage of breath. His family reports that he is recovering as well as expected. The Fairhall family also wishes to thank the first responders who attended to Larry, as well as the racing community who have reached out with their support.
