Goulburn's Five Horses For Five Furlongs (Friday)

On a deep-looking Friday card at Goulburn a five-furlong race has attracted five local acceptors.

The tablelands gang tackle over the short course occurs in Race 6 (Campbell Petroleum Bm66 Handicap, 1000m) and has a number of horses looking to kick off a new campaign in good style or recapture some of their best back getting back to home surrounds.

Atop the weights is the Danny Williams trained My Blue Jeans ($41 on TAB).

The versatile veteran has been given a freshen-up for Friday and is no hack on his home course with eight cheques converted to cash from 15 starts.

Newtown Is Coming ($21) (Emma & Lucy Longmire) continues to age competitively and resumes from a break.

Jeff Penza takes the reins and his summer effort at this track & trip had plenty of merit.

Mr. Kylin ($15) is first-up for Danielle Seib and will be looking to add to his unbeaten record at the tablelands track.

The stable continues to grow and wasn't far off the winner with Assault'n'Bathory at Canterbury on Wednesday.

Stone Cold ($34, Sarah Murray-Leslie) sums up Goulburn's forecast for Friday! The tough as teak sprinter is having his sixth start in eight weeks and should appreciate a 4kg release. Wasn't far off the winner in a similar grade of race the last time he raced here.

Luxurial ($19, Tash Burleigh) rounds out the 'five over the five' and neatly fits the horses for courses tag. Poorly drawn but stable has produced a phenomenal seven winners from its last ten runners. Apprentice Amy McLucas rides and is in winning form this week.

All five will have to overcome the recent Mark Newnham acquisition, Stormborn, who holds plenty of the pre-race posturing at $1.80 with TAB Fixed Odds.

Across the other Goulburn-trained acceptors on the card expect competitive showings from in-form stables such as Kurt Goldman (After Dinner $16 - Race 1 and Verdi $6.50 - Race 8)
and Jean Dubois (Can Do It $6 - Race 5).

Goulburn's track is currently rated a Soft 5 and the meeting has pre-midday start with Race 1 kicking off at 11.55am.
