Goulburn's Fab Four Fit To 'Fire' In The Kosciuszko

The elevation of the Danny Williams-trained Prairie Fire ($41 on TAB)  into the starting line-up for tomorrow's The Kosciuszko at Royal Randwick on Saturday gives Goulburn-trained horses a four-pronged opportunity to conquer the country gallopers' very own equine peak.

Prairie Fire now joins the Kurt Goldman-trained duo Intuition ($21) and Irish Songs ($61) along with Tash Burleigh's Country Championships runner up Al Mah Haha ($41) in the race.

Speaking via his Twitter page, Williams summed up the bittersweet scenario that saw Prairie Fire sneak into the race at late notice.

"While we are shattered for Geoff Duryea with the news about Front Page [being withdrawn], we’re excited to have Prairie Fire selected to run for the William Farrer Hotel syndicate at Wagga in his place."

And whilst the pre-race market may not have any of the 'Goulburn Fab Four' within cooee of winning, Goulburn Race Club's CEO, Robyn Fife said the tablelands club is cheering them all on in equal measure.

"To have four confirmed runners in The Kosciuszko trained out of Goulburn is a real feather in the cap for our club, the trainers and their connections," Ms Fife said.

"The race attracts such positive publicity for country racing in general and the people who genuinely love being part of our industry.

"On behalf of our directors, members and all of our local industry participants we wish Kurt, Tash and Danny and their slot owners the very best in Saturday's race."
