Goulburn Winners - Tips For Sunday 31st October

By Brad Gray

Tips and race by race preview by Brad Gray for Goulburn.

Race 1 - 1:25PM BEST WESTERN PLUS GOULBURN CLASS 2 SHOWCASE HCP (1600 METRES)

6. Festival Dancer finally found winning form at Goulburn two back before going right on with it at Kembla Grange. She beat Lease there who subsequently ran third behind Hilal in the Bondi Stakes. Getting out to the mile has been the making of her.

Dangers: 2. King Of Hearts ran a luckless third at Canterbury first up this preparation and few would have thought that it’d take another seven starts for him to finally crakc his maiden. Might be the win he needed.

How to play it: Festival Dancer WIN ($1.95 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 2 - 2:00PM DAVID ALT ELECTRICAL CLASS 1 SHOWCASE HCP (1400 METRES)

4. King Of Spades needed every inch of the 1200m to win at Nowra on debut back in July. John O’Shea tipped the three-year-old straight out and after two trials, kicks him off over 1400m. Should get the back of his main danger and carries significantly less weight.

Dangers: 5. Hope In Your Heart won well first up on a wet track before doing her best work late staying at 1200m. That suggests 1400m is perfect now.

How to play it: King Of Spades WIN ($1.60 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 3 - 2:35PM SPENDTHRIFT GUY WALTER F&M CLASS 3 HCP (1300 METRES)

1. Zoumist has never set foot on a country track. She’s more accustomed to knocking around in town and was often rated a single figure chance such is her level of ability. Resumed for her the Freedman yard at the midweeks and did enough behind Blesk to recommend her here.

Dangers: 4. Loving Cilla will flop out the back from the wide draw and will find the 1300m as short as she wants it but she is a talented mare, and a lightly-raced one at that. Can’t wait to see her out to the mile and beyond in time.

How to play it: Zoumist WIN ($4 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 4 - 3:10PM KILPATRICK METAL RECYCLERS SHOWCASE MDN HCP (1600 METRES)

1. Woodson looks to be screaming out for the mile having hit the line hard over 1200m first up before backing that up with another strong close at Nowra. Koby Jennings jumps on and should be able to hold a midfield spot from the draw.

Dangers: 4. Kokoro was okay on debut at Newcastle when a firm favourite but he didn’t do enough to warrant steaming in at an odds on quote second up. 3. Mycah Leon didn’t look all that comfortable on heavy ground last start.

How to play it: Woodson EACH WAY ($10 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 5 - 3:45PM GRAEME SPACKMAN COUNTRY MAGIC BM 66 SHOWCASE HCP (1600 METRES)

5. Nieces And Nephews travelled wide throughout when fourth behind Cotehele first up at Goulburn before being buried away behind a wall of runners last start having half missed the start from the inside draw. Racing much better than the form suggests.

Dangers: 2. Invincible Dash is an honest gelding that comes back from BM82 level in the Cootamundra Cup, where he ran third, to a BM66. The mile is his right trip and draws to get every chance yet again.

How to play it: Nieces And Nephews WIN ($6.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 6 - 4:20PM GOULPRO COUNTRY MDN SHOWCASE PLATE (1200 METRES)

10. Easy Rosie has trialled up really nicely ahead of her second preparation and gets the winkers on for the first time. Was beaten by Zadig at Wagga the last time we saw her at the races which is a strong enough maiden reference for this.

Dangers: 7. Charlemagne will break through eventually but he is becoming costly to punters. Has now run five placings from his nine starts and looked to have every possible chance when second at Nowra last start.

How to play it: Easy Rosie WIN ($2.40 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 7 - 4:55PM WYMAP TRANSPORT BM 66 SHOWCASE HCP (1200 METRES)

6. French Marine is still trending the right way having resumed in career best form this time back. After winning at Armidale second up, beating a subsequent winner, he ran third at Warwick Farm where there was a sizable gap back to third.

Dangers: 1. Land Of Valens has trialled well ahead of her return with the stable renowned for having their horses ready to go first up. 13. Winning Business has the talent to string a couple together.
How to play it: French Marine WIN ($3 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 8 - 5:35PM GOULBURN SOLDIERS CLUB GOULBURN CUP (1400 METRES)

3. Kirwan’s Lane needed the run first up last preparation before beating Ellsberg second up. Has had three trials this time back suggesting he’s more forward ahead of this first up target. Camps in behind a fast speed and gets every chance. Well placed.

Dangers: 4. Steely won four of his eight starts last preparation and just kept improving every time we saw him, getting out to 1800m eventually. 1. Art Cadeau has no easy task with 59.5kg and a wide draw but he simply refuses to lose!

How to play it: Kirwan’s Lane WIN ($5 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
