It’s been a big week in racing for Goulburn-trained gallopers.
The locals produced two home track winners last Sunday on Goulburn Cup Day with Outahand (Emma Longmire) and Mosgold (Tash Burleigh) winning feature races on the program.
Tablelands tuition also had a real presence on Big Dance Day at Royal Randwick on Tuesday.
In the $250,000 Barn Dance, Goulburn-trained gallopers Cavalier Charles (Matt Dale) and Bandi’s Boy (Danny Williams), looked like fighting out the main prize before being run down late by I’ve Bean Tryin’ (Matthew Kelley).
Incidentally I’ve Bean Tryin’ also won the Newhaven Park Country Championships Southern Wildcard at Goulburn in the autumn.
Goulburn Race Club will be looking to keep the ‘movin and shakin’ momentum going on Saturday with Girls Day Out, the club's biggest social day of its racing calendar.
Goulburn District Race Club CEO, Robyn Fife said the forecast looks good for what should be a bumper crowd.
"The Eeather Gods look like putting on a good day for some girl’s day out pampers and champers with a forecast top of around thirty-two degrees expected," Ms Fife said.
“Fashions on the Field is always super competitive and this year should be no different with Seib Racing supporting and prizes valued at over $3000.
“Interest and in the day has been super strong with all hospitality packages now sold out!”
Those looking for a leg up on Girls Day Out could do no worse than the ‘what’s hot’ theory.
Jockey Shaun Guymer has a full book of rides and is in dynamic form, shredding winners left right and centre at a strike rate of around 25% over the past month.
Guymer handles the omen tip of the day in ‘Lady Devine’ (David Pfeiffer) in Race 5, The Ultimate Horse Shop Maiden Handicap over 1300m.
The mare made a promising top four debut on the Beaumont Track (Newcastle) track last month off the back of some solid trials.
Add to that Stand In Line (Race 1-Seib Racing), Senatorial (Race 2-Emma Longmire), Feel The Magic (Race 3-Stephen O’Halloran), Slush Fund (Race 6-Maher & Eustace) and you can see why punters of both sexes could do worse than ‘get on the Guymer’ bandwagon at Goulburn.
Gates open at 12pm for Goulburn’s Girls Day Out with the club’s new broadcast big screen also beaming all the live racing action from the Five Diamonds meeting at Rosehill Gardens.
The Goulburn Good Oil likes:
Race 5 - No.5 Lady Devine win.
Race 6 – No.13 My Paloma each-way.
Goulburn’s track is currently rated a Soft 6 with an upgrade anticipated as fine and warm weather is predicted up until and during raceday.
