In-demand apprentice Dylan Gibbons is primed to continue his momentum in a booming first season of 31 wins, with two rides for trainer Kris Lees in Friday’s Tamworth TAB meeting.
With the benefit of being indentured to a regional championship stable of numbers and quality, Dylan, like his father Andrew, the 2020 NSW premiership riding winner, has made the maximum of opportunities.
Dylan assesses his two rides for Lees, after four of his mounts were scratched, on a strong Tamworth program with capacity fields and reserves in most of the eight TAB races in the popular northeast “Country Music Capital.”
Debutante three-year-olds, filly Duchess Nicci and Cartography, a Gerry Harvey bred gelding contest respective maidens.
“I don’t know a lot about them but it’s always a big advantage drawn inside for first starters," Gibbons said.
"They’ve got the breeding and as I say, Kris always has them well educated and forward.”
Duchess Nicci will start in the Tamworth Cup 23rd April 3yo Maiden Plate (1000m), while Cartography is lining up in the Great Northern Maiden Plate (1200m).
Significantly both have had four trials and the opening betting markets will be crucial.
Tamworth is currently a Good 4 with fine weather and a top of 32 degrees predicted.
