The sheep - not the horses - will be the star attractions during a 'phantom' race meeting tomorrow at Geurie.
Located between Wellington and Dubbo, Geurie had to abandon tomorrow's race meeting (16th September) due to insufficient acceptances.
But that doesn't mean they've abandoned all the fun!
"We are putting on a community fun day without the horses but we should still attract a sizeable crowd," said Ness Hartge, Secretary for Geurie Picnic Race Club.
"The sheep might be a bit slower but they will be great to watch.
"There will be a Fashions on the Field, foot races and sack races, live music and for the kids, face painting and a jumping castle.
"We will also have a full bar, BBQ, canteen and a TAB van to have a flutter. Entry will just be a gold coin donation."
Martin Whiteley, the club's President said they'll still working out the logistics of the sheep races.
"We'll stick some numbers on them and have them start at the 100m mark. We'll get a sheep dog behind them and off they'll go!"
