Local galloper To The Nines narrowly missed winning the Newhaven Park Country Championships Southern Wildcard race at Goulburn last Friday.

But local racegoer Linda Moore [pictured left] will be dressed 'to the nines' and heading off to Day 1 of The Star Championships at Royal Randwick on April 1st after a big on-track prize win.

Linda and three friends have 'qualified' themselves to attend Day 1 of The Championships at Royal Randwick courtesy of Goulburn District Race Club.

Linda was on track last Friday and entered Goulburn Race Club's The Championships Prize Draw and came up big, winning the four person package valued at $2500 that includes:

• Four reserve tickets to Royal Randwick for Day 1 of The Star Championships
• Accommodation for four people including breakfast
• Sydney Harbour Lunch Cruise for four people on Sunday 2 April

Goulburn's inaugural Country Championships Southern Wildcard raceday attracted a strong crowd under warm and sunny skies.

The Matthew Kelly-trained I've Bean Tryin' (ridden by Ellen Hennessy) snatched a last gasp win in the Southern Wildcard race securing the 15th qualifying spot for the Newhaven Park Country Championships Final on April 1st.

The Canberra galloper's win sharpened his 12-start record to five wins and three thirds and sees him well in commission for the final at $11 with TAB.
