Friday Focus - A Snapshot Of Saturday Racing

ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 10 # 12 – LES VAMPIRES

Expecting him to improve sharply second-up, as his profile suggests, and he has a positive setup here. The gelding led at a slow pace first-up at Randwick and was outpaced up-tempo when the sprint went on, but once he built momentum, his work through the line was strong. He has superior form lines to the majority of his rivals for this event and expect an aggressive ride now with a solid fitness base. Additionally, he'll relish the rise to 1400m and look to run his rivals ragged.

ROSEHILL GARDENS – VALUE BET: Race 8 # 2 – OLENTIA

She represents value and expect her to follow her historical pattern and peak third up in this assignment. The Chris Waller-trained galloper has been completely unsuited to the race shape in both runs this campaign but has clocked the meeting's fastest 400m-200m on both occasions. Further, her sectional profile suggests she is ready to win, and the anticipated tempo suits. One of the mare's peak figures came at this track/distance; she'll be smothered away doing no work, and expect her to look to have the last shot.

ROSEHILL GARDENS – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 3 # 4 – SKYHOOK

He's ready to win and can book a spot in the Slipper next week. The Ryan & Alexiou colt was solid first-up after only having the one trial leading in, and he should've won the Skyline Stakes (1200m) last start. He was checked/blocked at a critical stage and forced back into the inferior ground, but he savaged the line once clear. Punter's Intelligence recorded his late strength, and he ran the meeting's fastest final 200m split in 10.95. He maps to have all favours, and any improvement on his last-start performance will make him hard to hold out.

COONAMBLE (SUNDAY) – COUNTRY PICK: Race 2 # 14 – MISS CLAMOROSA

She went to a new level last start at Dubbo for her new trainer, Brett Robb, and she smashed the clock over an unsuitable distance. The filly was restrained from a wide draw and had to make a long-sustained sprint before knuckling down over the concluding stages to score. She rises sharply in trip, but she is rock-hard fit and can settle much closer with a significant barrier chance. Expecting her to improve again.
