ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 3 # 7 – UNUSUAL LEGACY
He's a progressive stayer open to sharp improvement on Saturday stepping out to a more suitable trip second-up. After getting too far back in the run, the gelding had too much to do first-up at this track a fortnight ago. To his credit, he made up significant ground in the straight, savaged the line and clocked one of the meeting's fastest final 200m splits. Kerrin McEvoy take over the riding duties and, with the genuine anticipated tempo, he can run over the top of his rivals.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST VALUE: Race 9 # 6 – NEW ENERGY
The import enters his second Australian prep, and his late strength/work past the post in his most recent trial at Warwick Farm suggests he's ready to sprint fresh. First-up last campaign, he was run to suit, but his final 200m had merit. He draws to be smothered away doing no work, and his sectional profile indicates he relishes high-pressure races, which he'll get on Saturday. The Ciaron Maher galloper will need luck but will charge late, representing value.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 10 # 14 – BLANC DE BLANC
He resumed at this track a fortnight ago and raced well when running into smart type Briasa. She travelled well, tired hard, built momentum throughout the straight, and Punter's Intelligence recorded the merit of her final furlong in 11.15, the third fastest of the meeting. She has a positive race setup here, dropping 5kg off that last start effort, which will enhance her closing speed and can rate to win.
BATHURST SUNDAY – COUNTRY PICK: Race 7 # 1 – TOO MUCH CAVIAR
Keen on him, and he's well placed here, coming off a career-peak win/figure last start at Rosehill. The seven-year-old chased a genuine tempo, sprinted hard and maintained his finishing speed to the line to clock slick overall time. All key indicators suggest he can step again off that effort and expect a positive ride from Adam Hyeronimus from the wide gate. He'll take some catching.
