Forbes Winners - Tips For Sunday 6th August

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Sunday’s Forbes meeting. Selections based on a good to soft track.

Race 1 - 12:00PM SEELEY/POLYAIRE MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

5. Our Kinsmen is ex-Joe Pride and wasn’t disgraced at Gosford last time when out in distance although only beating one home. Handy third at the mile prior at Goulburn and has the chance to break through in much easier company.

Dangers: 10. Pretty Eyed is lightly raced and did a good job off the outside alley to run into third at Narrandera at 1400m. Up in trip again but has been in the market in all four starts and should be competitive. 4. Open Sky comes through the same race where he led them up and boxed on well to run fourth beaten under a length. Sure to give a sight again. 12. Soul Night broke into the placings as a $61 chance at Wellington when racing handy and holding second. That was a Class 1 so back to a maiden and has claims.

How to play it: Our Kinsmen WIN ($3.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 2 - 12:40PM WALKER FAMILY COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN PLATE (1100 METRES)

6. Masters produced a huge performance to finish as close as he did at Wagga last time on a heavy track after racing wide. Freshened and drawn soft this time around and a firmer track is a plus. Looks a big chance.

Dangers: 1. Chookster is a 22 start maiden but his two runs back have been promising with successive placings at Dubbo in July. Same weight and drawn a bit kinder so he can only hold his form. 11. Santorini Sun is ex-Maher/Eustace and disappointed at only start for new stable back in January. Has trialled okay since and is worth including in the chances. 3. Hot Extraction is a consistent type without winning as yet and he stayed on okay at Wellington on a heavy track a month ago. Should appreciate good ground here and can show up.

How to play it: Masters WIN ($3.30 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 3 - 1:20PM SHEAD & NICHOLSON/DAIKIN MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

7. Painite didn’t have the best of runs when a well supported favourite at Dubbo last week and is well worth another chance. Was shaping up for a win with two placings prior for new yard and from an ideal draw should go close.

Dangers: 1. Felix Pereon was expected to run well at Wagga last time but drew wide and went back on a heavy track and couldn’t reel them in, finishing fourth. Much better draw here and must be kept safe. 8. Pozesana is ex-Chris Waller and held her ground at debut for new stable when fourth at Bathurst. Extra 200m might assist and has to be considered. 3. Platinum Asset will be fitter for an even effort when third at Taree six weeks ago. Big drifter there so can only be improved and has each-way claims.

How to play it: Painite WIN ($3.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 - 2:00PM INTERNATIONAL GAMING TECHNOLOGIES C1 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

1. Hobbsy enjoyed a nice run tracking the speed before taking over and edging away for an easy maiden win at Nowra second-up. Should land in a forward spot again here and looks to have more wins in him. Good chance.

Dangers: 3. Invahir took control early when a well supported favourite and cleaned up his maiden rivals at Dubbo last week. Drawn to be handy from the outset and will be competitive again. 4. A Boy Named Soo is also a last start winner and he was strong late to score at Bathurst. Draw allows him to stalk again and he’s worth keeping safe too. 5. Shikishi gave a sight at big odds at second run for new stable at Bathurst. Inside gate so could give cheek again.

How to play it: Hobbsy WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 5 - 2:40PM CITY CLUB GROUP SHOWCASE COUNTRY BOOSTED BM58 HCP (1400M)

12. Sheer Elegance did more than enough first-up at Narrandera running into fifth from the back and she’ll appreciate the extra 200m here. Had support there too so if she can back that up from the good draw she can be in the finish.

Dangers: 9. Sooboogeliscious won well two starts back then while beaten favourite consolidated the win with a sound third at Moruya. Back to 1400m likely suits better and a definite chance. 5. Electric Storm hasn’t done a lot wrong this time in and made ground when back 100m or so getting into third at Bathurst in a similar race. 7. My Blue Jeans has his 100th start and he’s not without an each-way chance. Won at Goulburn three runs back and also should appreciate coming back slightly in trip.

How to play it: Sheer Elegance WIN ($5.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 6 - 3:20PM THE AMAZING BEN HALL BULLET OPEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

8. Blitzar has been racing quite well without winning lately and while only finishing sixth at Cantebrury last time it was a big effort after turning a clear last in an on pace dominated race. Expect him to be in the finish.

Dangers: 2. Kattegat has run well at this meeting in the past two years and will be fitter for a solid effort at Kembla recently where he raced on speed and wide and was only beaten 3.5 lengths. Suited here and should be competitive. 5. Boom Boom Basil is smart when right and he got the job done with a narrow first-up win at Dubbo over 1018m. Drops a handy 3.5kg and can only be fitter. Definite chance. 3. Shores Of Avalon was a big drifter in betting when resuming at Moruya. He led them up and was only reeled in late beaten a length. Down 5.5kg and better for the run so has a good case.

How to play it: Blitzar WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 7 - 4:00PM BANKSTOWN SPORTS CLUB FORBES CUP (1600 METRES)

*BIG DANCE ELIGIBILITY *

10. Kangaroo Court looks to have a mortgage on this race if he can get around the Forbes track. Form around him is excellent and beat a subsequent winner at Rosehill in BM72 grade last time. Draws well and is lightly raced. The one to beat.

Dangers: 8. Ruban Bleu rarely runs a bad race but left it just a touch late when third in the Narrandera Cup a few weeks ago. Capable of running into the money with even luck. 7. One Aye won this race last year and is going well enough to threaten. Even fourth in the Narrandera Cup then close up again at Randwick last week. 2. Dr Evil has been thereabouts in Midway company in town of late and did start favourite at Randwick last week in what was a blanket finish. Each-way hopes.

How to play it: Kangaroo Court WIN ($2.25 TAB Fixed Odds).

Kangaroo Court wins at Rosehill on July 22

Race 8 - 4:40PM ROYLANCE TRACTOR REPLACEMENTS/ARISTOCRAT HCP (1100 METRES)

6. Manzoni is an ex-Godolphin horse who is unbeaten for the new stable after two starts. Hasn’t raced since the end of March when coming from a long way off them to score a soft win at Sapphire Coast. Will be strong late if they overdo it here.

Dangers: 2. Press Forward gets weight relief after carrying 61kg when a gallant second at Warren a couple of weeks ago. Will roll forward and both wins are at this trip. Go well. 9. I Like Big Putts couldn’t have been more impressive in an all the way first-up win at Warren. Harder here but has clearly come back well. 3. Spinosaurus wasn’t disgraced from a tricky gate when fourth at Sapphire Coast earlier in the week and draws much kinder this time around. Has a handy record and could show up.

How to play it: Manzoni E/W ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds).
