One of Goulburn's Race Club's biggest personalities and favourite sons, Fred Cooper has defied doubters and the doctors as he celebrates his 90th Birthday today.
Fred's legacy is well known around Goulburn with the club's main building carrying his moniker as testament to the countless hours he has devoted to country racing and the tablelands track.
Goulburn Race Club's CEO, Robyn Fife spoke for many this week in extending the club's best wishes.
"Fred's always been a marvel and reaching ninety is another fantastic milestone for him. We wish him all the best," Ms Fife said.
"Our club, staff and directors congratulate him on the achievement and his years of commitment to Goulburn Race Club."
Cooper hasn't got to the track as much as he would have liked in the past few years due to a combination of COVID-related restrictions and some general health issues.
One thing that hasn't changed though is the fact he still carries a torch for country racing, in particular the Goulburn racing surface and the ongoing potential of the club.
Fred will be spending his birthday with family and friends after giving the nurses at Goulburn's kidney dialysis unit the usual niggle and giggle this morning.
