Employment Opportunity - Track Manager (Tamworth)

Tamworth Jockey Club (TJC) invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Track Manager.

Tamworth Jockey Club conducts 20 race meetings throughout the year and its outstanding facilities are constantly in demand for weddings, bridal expos and all types of functions and events.

In addition to hosting a variety of events throughout the year, Tamworth Jockey Club is home to 130 racehorses that utilise the comprehensive facilities on a full-time basis.

The club has five tracks; a trotting track, dirt track, cinders track and two grass tracks; the B grass and the course proper which see over 150 horses worked each morning.

Skills

  • A high level of skill in turf and irrigation management (maintenance and installation)
  • Good time management and organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to develop, document and implement operational systems
  • Ability to use initiative in dealing with unforeseen circumstances
  • Ability to interpret plans and specifications
  • Good interpersonal and public relation skills
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to supervise staff

Qualifications

  • Trade Level (Certificate 3) in Turf Management / Horticulture
  • NSW driver’s licence is an essential component of the job
  • Chemcert accreditation
  • Loader Ticket
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in turf management or horticulture
  • Computer literacy desirable
