COFFS HARBOUR RACING CLUB LTD - RACECOURSE MANAGER
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Racecourse Manager is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the course proper, training tracks, stable complex and grounds at Coffs Harbour Racecourse.
The successful applicant will be instrumental in ensuring the racecourse and associated facilities are presented in the best possible condition for all stakeholders and patrons on course. The Racecourse Manager position will suit a Turf Management qualified person with experience who is passionate about track maintenance (sand and turf).
Key accountabilities of the role include:
• Oversee the implementation of track and racing and training facility management plans and practices for Coffs Harbour Racing Club.
• Implement Industry Standards for the preparation of racing and training tracks and facilities.
• Demonstrate commitment to Workplace Health & Safety, Ethical Behaviour, Efficiency, Participation, and service of Stakeholders.
• Develop and implement an annual racecourse maintenance plan detailing programs for track renovations, fertilising, track irrigation, mowing and gardening.
• Assist with the development and implementation of capital works projects at Coffs Harbour Racecourse relating to tracks and racing and training facilities.
• Provide expertise in the maintenance of quality turf and sand surfaces for the purposes of racing and training.
• To prepare an optimum racing surface for participants at all race meetings.
• Liaise with Racing NSW and Coffs Harbour Management in regard to track monitoring and performance.
• Assist with the development of annual budgets and management plans to facilitate the maintenance, construction and preparation of all racing and training tracks and facilities and agreed with by the Club Board and CEO.
• Leading staff and effectively supervising a small team. Communicating the management and preparation of quality turf and sand surfaces for the purpose of racing and training.
Desirable:
• Turf Management Qualifications.
• Turf management experience in the maintenance of equine racing and training surfaces.
• A thorough knowledge of raceday and training track maintenance and preparation procedures.
• Supervisory skills and the ability to coordinate, motivate and performance manage team members.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• General operational and mechanical maintenance skills.
• Working knowledge and understanding of the relevant WHS legislation.
• Sound literacy and numeracy skills.
