Employment Opportunity - Racecourse Management (Sapphire Coast)

Sapphire Coast Turf Club has an exciting opportunity available to join our Racecourse Management team.

The Club is situated close to Bega, Tathra and Merimbula on the far south coast, has both sand and grass training facilities, and currently conducts 12 race meetings a year.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills and will be responsible for the day to day running, maintenance and preparation of the Racecourse, Training Tracks, Infrastructure and Facilities to the standard required by our governing body, Racing NSW.

The applicant will need to ensure all work is performed to safe workplace practices as well as possess the ability to keep working records and prepare reports, together with the management and supervision of Grounds and Track Staff, incorporating planning and scheduled meetings for maintenance and events.

As part of the management team the role will involve development, implementation and overseeing of management plans and programs.

Desired applicant:

  • High level of understanding, passion and experience in Turf Management and irrigation systems.
  • Qualified at AQF3 Chemical Application level and experience in operating a tractor mounted boom spray unit.
  • Good communication and strong problem solving skills are essential
  • Positive and motivational team player.
  • Focused and flexible in working with management and team members at the club.
  • Involvement with the racing industry would be desired but not essential
  • A greenkeeping trade certificate or other turf management qualification is highly desirable.

The successful applicant will be on a Salary Package. The position is based on approximately 36 hours per week with a need for flexible work hours based around racing dates and some weekend work.
