Dubbo Winners - Tips For Wednesday 12th October

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday’s meeting at Dubbo. Selections based on a heavy track.

Race 1 - 1:34PM BOSS AGRICULTURE & GNF CONTRACTING MAIDEN (1300 METRES)

13. Winning Factor didn’t have a whole lot of luck in running first-up at Dubbo, racing wide, and boxed on okay to hold fifth. Much fitter for that and kinder draw in her favour. Should run well.

Dangers: 5. Angry Liam is a 22 start maiden but racing quite well of late with a string of placings including last time at Forbes where he was a bit flat early in the straight before charging late. Each-way. 18. The Drafter has had a few chances but was in the market here second-up when midfield over 1300m two weeks ago. Draw not as kind but might be worth another chance. 11. Smart 'N' Ritzy comes through the same race and she ran on from near last to finish sixth. Enough merit in last couple to say she's an each-way hope.

How to play it: Winning Factor E/W ($9.00 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Race 2 - 2:09PM WOODHAM PETROLEUM SERVICES & PARAGON PASTORAL COMP. (1100M)

3. I’m Not Leaving was enormous first-up at Canberra after sitting very wide on a heavy track. Sprinted sharply in the straight to go down narrowly and this race looks to set up well for him. Draws nicely, fitter, handles the wet. Take beating.

Dangers: 5. Star Of Kings trialled very well before starting favourite on debut at Dubbo and holding on for third. Runner-up has since won and form is okay through the winner. Better for the run and open to improvement. 6. Starane ran fourth in that Dubbo race and two starts later tried hard when runner-up at Dubbo two weeks ago. Thereabouts and include in the main chances. 1. Dante Alexander hit the line well at Scone two runs back then drifter in betting at the same track and not quite as effective but still a close fourth. Had a few chance but capable of figuring.

How to play it: I’m Not Leaving WIN ($2.90 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: ODDS.

I’m Not Leaving runs second at Canberra on September 16

Race 3 - 2:44PM SWANNY'S FOODS & TAB CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

5. Career Change gave nothing else a chance in an all the way first-up win at Dubbo in this class a month ago and no reason why she can’t repeat. Can only be fitter and only up 1.5kg. This race looks no harder and she is a good chance.

Dangers: 1. Ticket To Anywhere was a significant drifter at his first run for the new stable and produced an even fourth at Bathurst. Blinkers go on and drops in weight, still drawn awkwardly but expect him to be competitive. 6. I Like Big Putts was expected to run well first-up at Bathurst at first run for the new stable but was trapped wide and dropped off from the turn. Drawn a lot better here and given the support fresh it’d be worth forgiving. 16. Gunnerside has been going well in easier races and handles wet tracks. Strike rate a bit poor but could find himself in the placings.

How to play it: Career Change WIN ($1.50 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Race 4 - 3:19PM INLAND PETROLUEM CLASS 1 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

12. Entrez Boo seems to be working up to a peak performance and there was plenty to like about her third at Dubbo at her third run for the new yard. Only win so far was at this trip and she has a solid each-way hope.

Dangers: 3. Vital Verse disappointed last time out at Dubbo when favourite but previous two runs were promising for placings at Canberra and Dubbo. More than capable of bouncing back. 6. Nest In The Hills broke through for his maiden win in good style then drifter in betting and far from disgraced at Dubbo two weeks ago. Drops 4kg and drawn the inside so improvement won’t shock. 5. Adelinda could find this a bit easier than her two runs back at provincial level. Maiden win was on a heavy track and is worth including in the major chances.

How to play it: Entrez Boo E/W ($9.00 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Race 5 - 3:54PM KEADY FAMILY COONAMBLE SHOWCASE CRYSTAL SPRINT (1200 METRES)

1. Dalavin just goes from strength to strength and he just needs to tick the 1200m box here. It’ll be a test up in weight on his last start Dubbo win but beat a handy field there and while drawn out he will go forward and be hard to beat.

Dangers: 4. Great Buy hasn’t struck his best yet in three runs back but it was an improvement last run at Bathurst in the Panorama where he led and was beaten under three lengths. Meets Dalavin better for their recent clash so can show up. 8. Foreign Brother is up in class but is racing in super form and could measure up. A month between runs when runner-up at Scone last time and drops 5kg here. Definite chance. 6. Larynx was a big drifter last start here but hit the line from near last into third over 1000m. Another dropping sharply in weight and worth including.

How to play it: Dalavin WIN ($1.55 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Race 6 - 4:29PM NALDER FAMILY COUNTRY MAGIC SHOWCASE CLASS 3 (1600 METRES)

3. Deel Street probably found 2000m beyond her two runs back but the mile was right up here alley scoring an easy win here a month ago. Missed the Highway at Randwick last weekend and loves this track and trip. Go well.

Dangers: 7. Mr Severino is running into some form and gave a good sight in front when finding one better at Armidale on a heavy track third-up. Both wins are at this trip or further so ready to produce his best. 5. Coopella sat on the speed and had her chance behind Deel Street a month ago. Does get a big turnaround in the weights to help but has four lengths to make up. One of the chances. 4. Wunambal is a lightly raced consistent type who accounted for a small field winning at Forbes a few weeks ago. Only first-up there too so should have improvement and is an each-way chance.

How to play it: Deel Street WIN ($2.50 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Race 7 - 5:09PM GERONIMO & NEW HOLLAND AG COONAMBLE CUP (1600 METRES)

*** BIG DANCE ELIGIBLE RACE***

14. Torowoto is an interesting runner who is unbeaten for the new stable with a pair of easy wins at Tamworth. Back to a mile after winning at 2100m a month ago. Down in weight and could easily be up to this.

Dangers: 8. Onemore Sapphire broke through for a last stride win at Port Macquarie third-up and is one of those horses that is always capable of being in the finish if things go his way. Best form is good enough. 2. Caesars Palace won on a heavy track at Rosehill in July but subsequent efforts were just fair. Freshened up and won a trial a couple of weeks ago. Could give a sight. 3. Philipsburg has been mixing his distances of late but he's an honest type who usually leaves his run a bit late, winding up around the placings. This is easier than what he's been meeting so definite chance.

How to play it: Torowoto E/W ($6.50 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Torowoto wins at Tamworth on September 12

Race 8 - 5:49PM FUTURITY PASTORAL COMPANY BARADINE CUP BM66 (1400 METRES)

3. Toulon Factor is flying this time in with wins at Tamworth and Dubbo and he’s done it in good fashion both times. Up a notch in class now and drawn wide but that may not be a negative come the last race. Has a case.

Dangers: 6. Petain is hard to leave out while racing so well. Scored here two starts back in a BM58 then solid third in same class at Bathurst. Down 3.5kg and has each-way claims again. 4. Destiny's Son has disappointed at his last couple but is back a little in class and with three runs back should be fit now. 5. Amicus Curiae was placed here first-up in August then a month between runs and only beaten two lengths at Scone in a similar race. Capable of showing up.

How to play it: Toulon Factor WIN ($3.00 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: SPLIT.
