Dubbo Winners - Tips For Sunday 27th June

By Brad Gray

Tips and race by race preview by Brad Gray for Dubbo.

Race 1 - 12:30PM KINGS HALL JEWELLERS MAIDEN PLATE (1110 METRES)

8. Art Angel was nailed on the line at Bathurst last start, defying a significant betting drift. Has to come back to 1100m but the track should be testing enough to negate that. Has recent racing on her side in this which could prove the difference.

Dangers: 1. Gigastar was okay first up in provincial company last start. This is the easiest race he has contested. 11. Super Chance has form around some handy horses but will he need the run? 10. Maggies Times a must for exotics!

How to play it: Art Angel WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 2 - 1:10PM RSL MEMBERS AND GUESTS MAIDEN HANDICAP (1410 METRES)

2. Swiss Scent brings Big Happiness form to the table here, which is as solid a country form reference as there is at the moment. This filly then placed second up again but was 1000m out to 1280m. Just has to overcome a tricky draw.

Dangers: 8. Hitman has placed his past two and is well placed to break through. 5. Cross Creek gave a sight last start on a bottomless track. That sets her up well to go forward again off that.

How to play it: Swiss Scent WIN ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 3 - 1:50PM DUBBO RHINO LODGE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (2210 METRES)

1. Careering Away is as tough as nails and has held his form through a long preparation. The six-year-old handles all surfaces, is obviously hard fit and makes his own luck on top of the speed. The horse to beat.

Dangers: 6. Preston looms as the sleeper in the field. She has been working to the line well this preparation and gives the impression she wants this trip. The query being the unconventional jump from 1300m to 2210m.

How to play it: Careering Away WIN ($3.60 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 4 - 2:25PM NORTH DUBBO RSL SPORTIES BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1610 METRES)

3. Fearless Mia has won four of her past starts so is a mare right at the top of her game. She resumed at Dubbo off a nine week break with a brave win from in front. The map looks kind again in this having drawn much better than a number of her main rivals.

Dangers: 1. Slatey Bay is flying at the moment, running well at Dubbo at his latest two outings. Has handled big weights in the past. Will be apprentice Nicholas Hyde’s first ever winner if he can boot him home.

How to play it: Fearless Mia WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS

Race 5 - 3:00PM DUBBO RSL GYM AND AQUATIC CENTRE CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1110 METRES)

11. Missile Rain was a big winner first up last preparation and love the way she trialled at Wellington alongside Jailbreak ahead of her return. Drawn well, with plenty of speed in the race and Grant Buckley riding, she profiles well.

Dangers: 2. Fifteen Rounds is close to another win and although beaten at Dubbo last start, there was a big gap back to third. 1. Giftgiver is the class runner in the field. It’s just a matter of how much work he’ll have to do to cross, especially being first up.

How to play it: Missile Rain EACH WAY ($13 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 6 - 3:35PM DUBBO RSL WINTER SERIES FINAL DUBBO WINTER COUNTRY CLASSIC FINAL BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1310 METRES)

3. Wishfilly has won three on the bounce and other than a wide draw, there aren’t too many negatives for the flying mare. Loves it wet, her past two wins have been at Dubbo and Casey Waddell has ridden her in all three wins.

Dangers: 2. Boom Queen was no match for Wishfully two starts ago but has since bolted in at Coonamble. Don’t underestimate her, especially from a soft draw. 6. Nowyounomi looks the best of the rest.

How to play it: Wishfilly WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 7 - 4:10PM 178 RESTAURANT CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1410 METRES)

8. Devils Triangle is one of the most interesting runners across the entire meeting. Was an impressive winner at Wagga on debut and although there’s a question over what she beat, she did it in the manner of a smart filly.

Dangers: 2. Lancer turned his form around last start at Scone with a surprise win at $71. If you trust him to hold that form he has to be respected here. 1. Whatsin’s best form would give this a shake. Maybe Dean Mirfin can get him firing again.

How to play it: Devils Triangle WIN ($2.25 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS
