Tips and race by race preview by Brad Gray for Dubbo.
Race 1 - 11:45AM CHILL-RITE REFRIGERATION COUNTRY ONLY MAIDEN SHOWCASE PLATE (1000 METRES) |
---|
16. Charged Teke was a little firey in her Muswellbrook trial but she could be the jump and run 1000m horse suited by the low draw. Got onto heels late in her heat and suspect she couldn’t have won it easily if let stride.
Dangers: 6. Obey looks the pick of those with race experience. Still does a lot wrong, however. Another debutant in 13. Deranged more than held her own in an open trial at Goulburn where Shelby Sixtysix ran second.
How to play it: Charged Teke WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS
Race 2 - 12:20PM RAY WHITE RURAL COUNTRY ONLY SHOWCASE MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES) |
---|
Deep Dubbo maiden this! 1. Akaka Falls has started near favourite in each of his seven runs. First up last preparation he was only beaten four lengths at Flemington at $6.50 behind Oxley Road. Has his first run for Glenn Frazer in this.
Dangers: 3. Fiendish smoked to the line on debut at Tamworth with the wide draw and slow getaway proving costly. He won’t be a maiden for very long but might suffer the same fate in this. There’s an obvious case to be made for 2. Circularity too.
How to play it: Akaka Falls EACH WAY ($7 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 3 - 1:00PM DUBBO RSL RESORT SHOWCASE MAIDEN HANDICAP (1400 METRES) |
---|
2. Driving Force jumps from 1100m to 1400m but given the way he has found the line at his last two runs, he could relish it. Will be allowed to find his feet and flood home on his home track. Might have bumped into a handy one at Mudgee last start.
Dangers: 10. Riders In the Stand comes through that same form line but he has had enough chances now, as has the early favourite 6. Capital Venture. 5. Vivenzo looks the biggest threat, out to 1400m third up for Rod Northam.
How to play it: Driving Force WIN ($6.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 4 - 1:35PM KINGS HALL JEWELLERS CLASS 3 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1600 METRES) |
---|
2. Foodie King was mainly raced over the mile when trained in New Zealand so keen to see what he can do out to that trip for Michael Mulholland. Got back in a slowly run Highway Handicap over 1400m but liked the way he closed. The barrier doesn’t help but another win is close.
Dangers: 6. Dead On Time is flying for Ian Holland, relishing the step out to the mile. Comes off a picnic win but don’t underestimate how well he is going. 1. Invincible Dash looks well placed in this company off his recent form. Just lacks a turn of foot.
How to play it: Foodie King WIN ($4 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS
Race 5 - 2:10PM CUISINE CATERING BENCHMARK 58 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1300 METRES) |
---|
18. Spritza Seritza is racing very consistency this time back. After finally breaking her maiden three back she ran fifth in a deep race at Scone before grinding home into second I this grade on a heavy track. Expect she’ll relish back on top of the ground as she has a turn of foot.
Dangers: 2. Tells Tails boasts a great record at Dubbo (6:2-0-2) and if she finds her rhythm on top of the speed, she’ll take catching. 5. Point Hope is more a miler type but could sprint well fresh for her new stable.
How to play it: Spritza Seritza WIN ($6 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 6 - 2:45PM XXXX DRY CLASS 1 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1300 METRES) |
---|
1. Vital Verse did amazingly well to get as close as he did over 800m first up. Was a genuine city class performer earlier in his career and he bolted in for Kody Nestor back in April over this track and trip. Should roll through the grades.
Dangers: 6. Time To Target made ground behind the very speedy Capital Reign at Scone which stacks up well for this. 2. La Cabana is also a new acquisition for Brett Cavanough and is a last start city winner.
How to play it: Vital Verse WIN ($2.30 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 7 - 3:20PM ALL NEW KLUGER HYBRID BENCHMARK 58 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1300 METRES) |
---|
13. Papa John has been around the mark recently and looks well placed to chalk up a third win. Had to go right back from the draw at Muswellbrook last start and rattled down the outside to pinch second.
Dangers: The Paul Messara-trained 1. Free Rider has a huge weight but a class edge. He was cluttered up last start and six weeks between runs so was entitled to feel the pinch late. Can only improve off that.
How to play it: Papa John WIN ($3.20 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 8 - 3:55PM UNBREAKABLE HILUX FLYING HANDICAP (1100 METRES) |
---|
1. Jailbreak is the key to this race. He is 10 points clear in the ratings, hence the 62kg. Hasn’t had an official trial and draws wide. The positives are that he has been so impressive at his last two first up runs. Could get a trail from 6. Classy Rebel to settle handy.
Dangers: The speedy 3. Partners will take catching as he has drawn to find the front but one of the constants about his career is the improvement he takes from his first run. Has trialled twice this time, however, so perhaps he is more forward.
How to play it: Jailbreak WIN ($5 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 9 - 4:30PM DUBBO CITY & GILGANDRA TOYOTA GOLD CUP (1600 METRES) |
---|
Don’t know where to look! There is a stack of speed, however, so we are guaranteed a genuinely run mile. 5. Miss Redouble starts to hit form third up out to this trip so expect her to run well. Especially from the soft draw. Will just need the seas to part at the right time.
Dangers: 4. Rule The World didn’t threaten in a Class 6 at Doomben last start but he profiles well for this fourth up back to country company and drawn well. The knock on 10. From The Bush is the likely firm track.
How to play it: Miss Redouble EACH WAY ($15 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
Race 10 - 5:12PM AQUAWEST COUNTRY MAGIC CLASS 2 SHOWCASE PLATE (1100 METRES) |
---|
A couple of key early scratchings has opened this race right up. 13. Summer Glow is lightly raced and wasn’t far off Water Dove when they clashed back in March. Without her here, she gets her chance. Profiles like a mare with it all still ahead of her.
Dangers: 16. Foxstorm was backed as if unbeatable first up at Tamoworth after impressing in his trials but couldn’t reel in the leader. Thought he had his chance but can only strip fitter second up and draws well again.
How to play it: Summer Glow WIN ($5 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
