Manning Valley Race Club has donated its pre-prepared catering to an excellent cause following the decision to postpone today's race meeting due to smoke haze (air quality and vision).
"As disappointing as it is to have a nine-race meeting postponed today due to the ongoing bushfires on the Mid North Coast, Manning Valley Race Club has donated all pre-prepared catering to the Taree Show Ground to help with providing food for the many local residents who have been displaced over the past couple of weeks," said MVRC's Executive Officer, Helen Sinclair.
“We had several large groups booked in for lunch today and it is so pleasing that the food has now been put to great use.
"The organisers at the showground were visibly touched by the donation as they are all running on empty at the moment.
"Many local residents have been without electricity for an extended time and even though they have returned to their properties, they are unable to prepare meals.
"The local showground is providing an amazing service for the residents and their livestock."
