Goulburn has eight races to be run and won on Friday as the Tablelands club continues its countdown to the Newhaven Park Country Championships Southern Wildcard Race on Sunday 24th March.
With three race meetings in March there’s plenty for form students to ponder as the tablelands circuit secures solid airtime.
At Goulburn’s most recent meeting punters that shopped local were richly rewarded with ‘click and collect’ results as five of the eight races went the Tablelands' way.
Danielle Seib won two (Chaotic Beauty and Eight of A Kind), Scott Collings also notched a winning double (Ticklebelly and Own Them) and an early win went the way of Danny Williams (Jewel Approach).
Goulburn Race Club CEO Robyn Fife said Friday’s fields throw up potentially similar results.
“On original acceptances it looks we have around 22% of Friday’s fields loaded up with locals, which we love to see!” said Ms Fife.
“There’s strong representation from the likes of Danielle Seib (3), Pat Murphy (4), Danny Williams (3), Scott Collings (2) and Anthony Warren (3).”
Ms Fife also said that things are on track for the Country Championships Southern Wildcard raceday fast approaching on Sunday 24th March.
“With the Newhaven Park Country Championships well and truly underway the Southern Wildcard enters its second year with the event now firmly entrenched as one of Goulburn Race Club’s feature meetings on the racing calendar."
The $150,000 Southern Wildcard race is a "winner plays on'' opportunity for the final qualifiying spot in the $1m Final at Royal Randwick on April 6th.
Ms. Fife said the club is keen to build on the success of the inaugural 2023 Southern Wildcard Raceday: "We had a strong crowd and a smart vibe complementing a thrilling finish in the Southern Wildcard Race last year," Ms Fife offered.

The Goulburn Good Oil says local shopping could still be a productive option on Friday with:
Race 1, No.2 - King Lane: Resumes for Scott Collings with Nick Heywood to steer. Bobs up without a trial but has shown potential in just the two starts to date.
Race 3, No.3 - Denarau: Keeping the bookies in bread and honey of late but the Seib-trained galloper has the right grounding for this type of trip with apprentice Benjamin Osmond to steer.
Race 4, No.6 - Eight Of A Kind: Sharp mare who returned in fine style first-up and is unbeaten at this venue. Up in grade but overall record indicates an upside type.
Race 6, No.6 - Sass ‘N’ Cheek: Draws her best gate in a while and has run some bold races at this track and trip. Pat Murphy and Louise Day team up in a suitable race.
Goulburn’s track is currently rated a Soft 5 with warm weather forecast for the remainder of the week. Friday’s opener is timed to go at 1pm.
