Team Price has a lengthy affinity with the Nowra track and they have leading contenders into Sunday’s TAB meeting, along with another priority.
Ensuring the comeback of their Group-winning stable jockey Brock Ryan after a four-month absence through a shoulder reconstruction is successful.
Brock follows up at Nowra with prime rides for Robert and Luke Price after resuming at Kembla on Saturday.
“Brock’s been great, back a few weeks riding work and trials for us, it’d be special if we could put him on winners for the confidence, our best is at Nowra,” Luke enthused.
Originally indentured to them, Brock’s career highlights were winning at Group 2 level for the stable as an apprentice on Jamaea 2021.
Not having ridden in races since April, but in trials and work for a month, Brock is regrouping on fancied dual acceptors he has ridden previously.
“Brock’s on our best at Nowra - Candlelit and Slickman. More suitable races than Kembla with a drop in grade and drawn inside, always a big factor there,” Luke added.
“I’ve checked with Nowra, at this stage it’s a Soft 5, that suits ours.”
Candlelit contests the Greenwell Point Bowling and Sport’s Club Mdn 1100m.
“He’s run well in probably stronger maidens at Kembla, fitter for racing, handles rain-affected, gate speed and drawn well.”
Slickman is in the Greendale’s Café Pyree Class 1, 1400m.
“He’s got the 59.5kg but again, close up in better grade at Kembla, fitter for racing this time in, handles the going and blinkers on a benefit with him.”
Seven races at the popular Shoalhaven track have drawn mostly capacity fields and the track a Soft 5 at present in fine weather.
