With the stable featuring strong chances spread throughout the program, Nathan Doyle has the opportunity to capitalise on his stellar training season with further success at Port Macquarie on Monday.
The prominent Novocastrian mentor has Tequila Cabos ($3.10 favourite on TAB) and Pad Thai ($4) engaged in the Fastplast Building Supplies Handicap with both gallopers dominating early discussions following recent sound efforts.
Tequila Cabos was highly competitive around the provincial and country circuits before being sent for a spell following a good fourth when beaten under three lengths by Impulse Control at Port in January.
Recent barrier trials followed last month before the daughter of Press Statement was narrowly defeated by Zain’s Girl at her spell resumption on exceptionally heavy ground at Gosford a fortnight ago.
Koby Jennings has a wonderful association with the stable and it is significant the accomplished hoop retains the mount on Tequila Cabos following his dominant ride on Visceral at Taree a few days ago.
Pad Thai is the second member of the team and comes off a decisive win over Russley Crown when resuming from a break at Scone a couple of weeks ago with the form around that performance being stamped following the second placed gelding’s dominant victory at the same track a few days ago.
The weight relief associated to Jasper Franklin provides a great asset to Pad Thai when considering the chances of the Shalaa gelding with the promising apprentice coming off a recent riding double at Grafton.
Nathan Doyle completed the recent state training season on 57 wins and 76 placings with the stable having bright prospects to start the program well with Hypnosis ($2.40 fav) engaged in the second event.
The son of Press Statement deserves to break through for success following seven placings from night overall appearances while Bullinachinashop ($2.90 fav) has been racing well enough to be considered a live chance in the penultimate event.
My Water Lily ($5.50) has strong claims in the opening race for the Coffs Harbour training establishment of Brett Dodson while the local gallopers, Our Kiwi Princess ($3.40 fav) and Grandellie ($7) will be hard to beat later in the day.
The course proper remains in the heavy range following additional rain over the last couple of weeks but has recovered well from the inclement weather that caused the cancelation of three events at the club’s last fixture. Limited reserved seating remains available inside the Ivan Livermore Stand with tables also available in the outside bar or betting ring.
There are great viewing and seating areas available with refreshment, dining and wagering facilities in full operation throughout the grounds with further information regarding reserved seating available by contacting the Port Macquarie Race Club office on (02) 6581 1964 or by emailing - admin@portmacquarieraceclub.com.au
Races on the card are named in honour of Stowe Australia, GemLife Rainbow Beach, John Oxley Motors, Carlton Dry and Fastplast Building Supplies with everyone urged to support these fine brand names.
The next race meeting scheduled at the circuit is on Friday 12th August with an eight-event program offering prizemoney of $200,000 following a recent increase by Racing NSW.
A reminder the feature race meeting for the club is approaching rapidly with the $200,000 Carlton Dry Port Macquarie Cup highlighting a wonderful day of racing set for Friday 7th October.
Massive prizemoney of $500,000 is up for grabs for the club’s premier meeting of the year with the cup shaping up as one of the best as it provides the opportunity for successful connections to contest the $2 million The Big Dance at Randwick on 1 November.
The carnival will continue on Saturday with the annual Steeline fixture with a strong program catering for most classes of horses. The local carnival will be followed by The Kosciuszko which is the world’s richest race for country-trained horses, carrying $1.3m in prizemoney.
Every horse in the race is nominated by a winner of The Kosciuszko sweepstakes who share in the prizemoney of their nominated horse. $5 tickets in The Kosciuszko sweepstakes are available for sale through the TAB App and your local TAB venue.
The Kosciuszko race is a 1200m sprint contest run under set weights & penalties conditions for NSW country and ACT trained horses only and will be run at Royal Randwick on Saturday 15th October 2022 to complement The TAB Everest.
